I've never heard of it working on anything but a full iphone pay monthly contract, sorry.

Mobiles.co.uk and o2.co.uk are both reporting being out of stock of 3GS's at the moment - is there a widespread shortage? Sorry if this is a stupid question I wasn't aware of there being shortages.

Mobiles.co.uk seemed to have stock before the Bank Holiday if I recall correctly but since at least Monday all models have been out of stock. I want to wait until my old O2 contract is closed and I have my final bill before I return to O2 and hopefully get cashback (post #418) but I just wondered if I should expect a long wait in the meantime.

There are now persistent rumours that a new iPod touch with camera and microphone is due out soon.

If true it would be a better bet than an iPhone for those on a budget (with a little hacking). You could use sipgate.co.uk to use it as a phone anywhere that has wifi, and otherwise it does everything the iPhone does.

For that reason, I'm holding off buying anything for now.

A camera on the Touch would be useful if Augmented Reality stuff starts taking off (google it - it's definitely coming along nicely), but not sure why they'd put a mic in.

Limited amounts of iPhone stock are due in this week but not enough to put it back In Stock on the site. If you were to order now you might get one this week but I'd not guarantee it.

Stock comes to O2, Carphone and ourselves at the same time for what it's worth.
