I could have written this myself!!! Same place i was lat week!

In the end i bought a 16gb 3Gs from apple online as non in stock in shops anywhere....

then after much debate went for Simplicity 30 day tariff as i decided i really didnt need the amount offered on the 12 month sim....

I'm pleased with my purchase/decision but my only disspointment is the CRAP battery life on the ihpone, i went out yesterday with 100% and after a couple of phone calls 10 minds each...by 2pm by battery had died!!!
Ive read all the google stuff re how to save battery and have done all those but dissapointed that in order to have more battery life you have to turn off most of the things you bought the iphone for in the first place!!!
    3G OFF
    Location service OFF
    Push OFF
    Wifi OFF
    brightness LOW
    Email check HOURLY
    Don't use it OK!!

So for me i'm dissapointed. My batery is a little better today but thats because of all the above!!?:mad:

You are soooo right about the battery life. I have it fully charged in the morning and by 5pm it has run out!!!! So I have purchased a whole load of charging leads for around the house. I use the iphone to go online while I am down stairs with the children and I also use it in my bedroom to watch stuff. I now have a power lead in the bedroom and in the living room so that I can use it and charge it up at the same time. I have also bought a power lead for the car cigarette charge and also a power lead left in the boot so that when I visit friends I can charge it up from their house. Thats 4 different leads in total!!!!!

It all these extra cables I should be able to use it as I want.

I thought that I would have to cope with the not so responsive keyboard because I type really fast but I have found this to be perfectly fine. Especially with the landscape keyboard layout.

You can buy a battery power pack.

I still feel that this is an excellent product and I have just only started looking at all those applications that you can buy... Any are free and the good ones only cost a few pounds.

I think the battery life appears to be bad but it's because when you get one you can't stop playing with it!

Someone on a page or two before your comments had a link to an article stating that orange and t-mobile are very likely to have the Iphone 3g but not the 3gs.

Orange & T-Mobile look like the're up for the 3G version. (Not 3GS)

However there were the exact same rumours out this time last year and I have since been into a couple of Orange Shops for different reasons. I asked if they had any idea on rumours of the iPhone. They certainly haven't been trained on it so it wont be in the near near future.

They did say there was a recent negotiation with Apple to sell Macbooks with Orange 3G but that all fell through (after staff had been trained) so it shows how uncertain these agreements can be.

    Might help your decision.

I think if they were getting them anytime soon they would be advertising it or at least mentioning it when you call to cancel your contract as mobile phone companies are always keen not to loose cutomers. As much as I would love an iphone I may have to leave it for now as I am not prepared to pay so much money on a phone. Thanks for your replies
  • I called tmobile to request my PAC about 3 days ago and I gave the iPhone as the my reason for leaving. The lady at retentions clearly said that they had been told to tell customers that tmobile was in negotiations with Apple but that nothing was certain. I was advised to wait 2-3 weeks for an announcement that would either confirm or dismiss the speculation. As I have 50% line rental discount for life, I really do not want to be leaving tmobile so hopefully at least the iphone 3g makes it way from o2!

As far as I'm aware, there's troubles with Apple delivering iPhones at the moment.
