    Can anyone help?

ive just looked at the cashback sites (quidco and topcashback) for the 1st time and the iphone deals dont seem to match what the MSE page says. MSE says i can get an 18 month contract for £44 which gets me the i phone for free but all the offers on Quidco says 18 month contract will cost me £184.

    Im confused.com!!!

    Help

Which iphone were you looking at - there are 3 models which are all differently priced.

    - the old 3G with 8Gb memory
    - the new 3GS with 16Gb memory
    - the new 3GS with 32Gb memory

On the MSE page, the only iphone available for free on the £44 tarriff is the old 3G with 8Gb memory.

However, the quidco website does not offer cashback for the old 3G model, only the new 3GS model.

The link on the quidco website will take you to mobiles.co.uk where the prices are £87 for the 16Gb or £175 for the 32Gb (on an 18 month contract with a £44 per month tarriff).

If you want the free iphone on the 18 month contract with £44 per month tarriff, you will have to get the old iphone 3G with 8Gb memory, thats presuming theres still stock left.

And you wont be able to get cashback on the old iphone 3G using Quidco

    Can anyone answer the following:

I have a great sim-only contract with O2 that I got through the retentions people with the intention of eventually getting myself a decent 3g phone.
I get 600 xnet mins, 1000texts and unlimited data for £10 a month for the next 2 years.

A PayGo iphone 3gs 16gig is £440. Should I be able to use it with my contract SIM with no issues? Would there be any difference between that and someone getting a contract iphone?

    Cheers in advance.

I think you won't be able to use the internet, email or wi-fi on it too.

I'm also thinking about doing this too....it works out at roughly £200 cheaper to buy the iphone 3Gs and get an O2 simplicity SIM....(£440 + £20pm x 12mnths=£240 total=£680)
That would give 600mins, 500 texts and a bolt on so could get unlimited internet
I'm going through retentions so hopefully will be able to get a better deal.

Contract iphone is only the 3G (please tell me if i'm wrong) and a 24mnth contract if you want it free....£35pm x 24= £840

For the 3Gs contract, again on 24mnths is £87.11 to buy on top and then £35pm which is £937.11
BUT if you go through QUIDCO and use mobiles.co.uk there is £60 cashback on all iphone 3Gs bought with a contract.

I'm confused with the whole thing to be honest and don't know what to buy....

Orange have offered me a good package for £25pm 600mins, 500texts, unlimited interent, free landline calls on most of their phones the ones i was looking at were iphone equivilents:
LG arena, LG GT505 and the Samsung Preston K5600, however reading into all the reviews and customer feedback there seems to be problems with them all!
    Preston = no wifi
Arena= don't buy on orange as they have removed GPS maps and other stuff and replaced with their own software

Seems the iphone ticks all boxes but just don't know which is the best way of buying it!

Do Sim only Tariff's give you what you need to use the iphone?

    xx

Quidco to date = £1224 cashback

I have just purchased the iphone and put in a simplicity sim, there are a few things you can`t do that you would be able to do with a contract, visual voicemail (whatever that is), tethering to a laptop (but that`s an extra £15pm anyway) and call merging none of which bothered me.

I don`t think it`s much cheaper over 18/24 months, the main benefit is the 30day contract, meaning at any point you only have to give 30 days notice to be able to move on.

If you can keep your phone in excellent condition, in theory if you want to change in 6 months you could sell it to recoup as much as possible and away you go.

Can`t remember what visual voicemail, but don`t think it`s worth being tied in for 18/24 months, you will find details on o2`s website i`m sure.

Simplicity sim deal was the one you mentioned at £20pm, just specify internet bolt on.

As I said, I don`t think you will save a massive amount over a contract deal if you stay with it for 18/24 months, depends whether you want/need/prefer the flexibility of the 30 day contract. The other main drawback for many of course is having to find the £440 in advance.

Just remembered, it`s actually £450, the phone comes with it`s own payg sim which has to have £10 put on it, so you get two sim cards, bit of a rip off.

Quick bit of advice regarding the extra PAYG sim you recieve pre-loaded with £10 credit -whack it on Ebay! As its got free net and wifi for twelve months i managed to get £20 for mine :D

The free net and wifi is worth £10/month, so IMO it's worth at least £50 (technically at least £120)??

Still, if you're happy with it, that's all that matters :)

I have zero credit with mine as Apple online dont ask you to buy any credit. Quick check on ebay tells me they only go for about £5 average... and about £13 - £15 when theres £10 credit on it.

For £5 I'll probably keep it as a spare... rip off selling it on ebay at that price.

Just called T-Mobile. They said that they will/might be doing the Apple Iphone in the next week or so. The person was not sure if they would be doing the new 3Gs phone.

Anyone else heard about this. Will they be doing the next Iphone 3Gs?
