Tesco is the cheapest way to get an iPhone if you can afford to pay out quite a bit up front?

What is the Tesco coverage like? And what are the disadvantages?0 -

Wow, I rang for my PAC and used the Iphone as an excuse so they wouldnt give me a sales pitch, cos I knew they didnt do them, but he offered one straight away. :rotfl:I turned it down as the deal wasnt anywhere near as good as the o2 upgrades being offered and as a 3 customer for five years I wanted a better deal and tbh I really wanted to leave 3. maybe its only certain dept that offer them ?
Hmmmm, interesting... did you speak to upgrades or retentions. Maybe I'm not longer a money making customer for Three Mobile. My average bill works out at £15 p/m!!!!0 -
I ordered one of the O2 SIMplicity 12 month £15 deals on Friday, should be coming today. Not too bothered about having the iPhone 4G when it comes out and will have my 3GS for considerably longer than 12 months, considering I forked out for this one on PAYG so I could do the cheaper SIM only contracts at £15 a month and thus save me ~£50 spread over 18 months. I was with T-Mobile fixed SIM for a month but the signal was terrible and this is a better deal than I was getting (unlimited texts, wifi hotspot access and visual voicemail over just 300 texts and voicemail which costs to call). It's a much better deal0

Tesco use the O2 Network and therefore you will get the some Quality of Service as O2. However, I've never used there customer care or aware of what SLAs they have in place when they have issues with the network
My husband has his 16GB 3GS phone on the Tesco network and he has had no problems at all so far.
It was even cheaper with staff disount of 10% and £70 upgrade voucher.
The PAYG iPhones are currently available on 12 months interest free, so you don't necessarily have to make a big upfront payment.0 -
Hello everyone, I have been reading this thread with great interest as I want an iphone. I am with virgin and i have just cancelled my contract as I have to give a months notice and it runs out on 22nd April. The woman I spoke to said that there is a whole host of new smartphones on the way in April and that I should really think about it as the iphone will be outdated! She went on to mention that the htc desire would be a good one to go for. I originally wanted the iphone because it looks very user friendly. What does everyone think? He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever. :A0

Personally, I think she's right. The iPhone 3GS was fairly dated from a hardware POV when it was released.
Yes, it's a nice UI and it's easy to get what you need from the App Store, but IMO with Apple's price control, it's very expensive for what it is.0 -
If I was to get a new phone and also buy an Ipod touch (which my son has and I think is great) then I would probably be spending just as much anyway dont you think? So thats why I want an iphone so that its all in one place. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever. :A0

Oh well that was a total disaster!!! I just called retentions and was told that they can only offer me a 16g 3gs for £45 a month on a 24 month contract or £35 and I pay £80 odd quid, they can Bu**er off, I asked for my pac code and will go elsewhere, shameful, no loyalty at all from orange.
just called O2 and they also can only offer 3gs 16 g on £35 a month 24 months with £89 down GrrrrrI am also with Orange and read quite a bit of the thread over the last few days. Basically you won't get a deal with Orange, they don't have refurbs as they haven't had the iPhone very long, and apparently Apple set the tariffs so there is nothing to be had.I came to the conclusion it was time to bail out!
I rang Orange retentions for my PAC code and got the same as everyone else - no deal. Tesco is the cheapest way to get an iPhone if you can afford to pay out quite a bit up front?

As already mentioned Orange don't have refurbs. No matter how much you spend each month, Orange can't discount your deal. Apple restrict what can be offered on new handsets.0
