In response to Mitch, you don't need an aerial connected to your second telly for the Sender to work.

The only caveat is that your second telly MUST have an available scart socket, and your main telly must have an external device with an available "out" scart socket to transmit. e.g. a video recorder, freeview box, cable box or sky box.

For example, if you had a video recorder downstairs connected to the main aerial, you'd plug the sender in to the video recorder, and the receiver in to the scart socket of your upstairs telly.

Then by setting your upstairs telly to AV (or channel 0 or whatever), you'll see what is being transmitted by the video recorder. So if you are playing a tape, then it'll show the tape, or if the tape is stopped it will show whatever channel the VCR is tuned to.

To change channels, you can't use the upstairs telly remote, you'd have to use the video remote and if correctly connected, the video remote used upstairs will change the channel on the downstairs video.

The same applies for Freeview boxes, and some compatable cable/sky boxes. If you have more than one device daisy chained together (e.g. video plugged in to the back of the freeview box, which is plugged in to the back of the DVD box, which is plugged in to the back of the telly), you can in theory use all from upstairs by connecting a scart splitter to the last cable that goes in to the telly, and connecting the sender to a spare socket on the splitter. You would need to take 4 remotes to bed with you though!

    Hope this makes some sense.

Went to buy one in my local Texco Extra and they were £39.99. Obviously put up the price for Christmas. Really disappointed as it was going to be a surprise for my husband.
  • I bought one of these this morning in a large Tesco's to the West of London very close to Junction 3 of the M4.

My set up is transmitter in the front room reciever upstairs in the bedroom. No problems excellent reception. Downside is I have a Tivo linked to an old analogue cable box and a digital pace 4000 box connected to Telewest. After a couple of hours of looking for a solution to the channel changing saga I have arrived at the conclusion this unit will not do it.
I should have suspected as I was unable to set my digi box up with the tivo for would appear to be the same reason. Pace 4000 boxes are very particular about which remote signals it will process. Both Tivo and pronto forums both discuss this point in detail.
Anyway for those that are asking this unit WILL NOT work with pace 4000 digitial cable boxes. :(

Which Tesco's in and around Manchester have these. I've been to two, one superstore (not extra) and a smaller store. Am I too late?

My local Tescos were still selling them for 27.92 today.

  • got one yesterday but i can only get it to work when plug into the scart of the video then watch the video channel on telly, it will not work when i put it straight intothe scart of my dvd combi, dunno if this makes a difference cos its a combi but the picture is perfect and it works no probs with the sky remote.
