Hi, I have the same problem. bought av sender from tescos - THANK YOU FOR THE TIP....
i have a good picture upstairs on our bedroom tv but again i cant change channels - i have tried the little wire thingy and it is placed correctly over the ir sensor on sky.
when trying to change channels upstairs we even get a beeping noise but alas no channel change??
Anyone got any more ideas - it is great to be able to have sky in the bedroom but a bit of a beggar not being able to change the channels?? ???0 -
A mate of mine bought one from Currys for £25 the other day, in fact he bought two, includes one receive and tramsmitter. He is only using the one transmitter but two receivers on Sky Plus around teh house.. Seems to wor fine think Fergerson made it.k

Unfortunately most tesco stores will not be stocking this item any more so if you find an elusive av sender then snap it up. They are excellent value, wish i could get a pallet load of them for you all.......but alas it is another wigig(when it is gone it is gone).......grey market eh!!
well done if you got one, I got 2, well worth the ££££0 -
what are the video/audio quality like? if u transmit it from downstairs to upstairs or vice versa?
is it good or poor?0 -
i just got one at tesco, clifton moor, york. £29 ish

have yet to set it up.... will let u all know...

Regarding video quality, transmitting from a downstairs freeview box to an upstairs portable the audio/video quality is excellent. You wouldn't be able to tell it was being sent by a "sender". Much better than the signal coming from the aerial into the portable.
This is in a Victorian house with a chimney breast and a hefty floor between the two. Not to mention a freeview box with Wifi terminal doing its level best to intefere.

Just bought one from Tesco in Leeds.I've got it wired up to my freeview box in living room and it's broadcasting a perfect picture to my top bedroom which is two floors up.
Remote works as well.
Unfortunately it doesn't work with the remote for myPace 1000 digital cable box. But as I bought it specifically for freeview, I'm not bothered about that.I can still watch specific cable programs.
A bargain. ;D0 -
Hello,
how do you "free up" one of the 2 scart sockets on the back of the sky box?
I have:
2 scart sockets on the back of the tv
1 on the back of the dvd player
1 on the back of the vcr
how does it all go together?? ???0 -
This sounds about right. As I suspected, I just bought a couple and it's useless for me, the remote control doesn't work at all with my NTL box.
Buyer beware if you're with NTL and have the following remote, this will not work for you and is about as good as any other cheapo sender on the market...
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/electricstuff/redremote/irda_big.jpgJust looked at the instructions in the box and it describes the transmitter as having:
"IR-remote IR output 940 nm with ON/OFF keying"
To my mind this sounds like a standard IR transmitter (which uses an on/off pattern via a modulated carrier to send control codes to a unit) rather than IrDA (that uses a 115200 baud signal like IrDA ports on laptops and mobile phones) that some Cable boxes require.
I suspect those that have had sucess with NTL boxes are using the 4000 series of PACE boxes which can accept IR or IrDA, rather than the 1000/2000 series which accept IrDA alone.

Hello,

Assuming you have both scart sockets used on the Sky box I had the same problem. I bought a double scart splitter from my local QD store for £1.79. This effectively increases the scart socket from one up to two. Just plug the AV transmitter into one of the new sockets and whatever was plugged into the Sky box originally into the other - hey presto, problem solved ! ::)
The picture is perfect and I can control the Sky box from upstairs thanks to help from previous posts. ;D0
