  • Sorry if I'm being a divvy :P

The description states "Infrared extender cable which can transmit infrared signals to 3 different pieces of AV equipment"

Does this mean that we could use it to watch Sky on upto 3 other TV's around the home ?
  • I don't think maplins sell this one. can anyone give me the exact name and model number? i need to see if it will work as an NTL remote signal sender before wasting time and effort finding one in tesco. I can read that others have had success, but this is an unbelievable find for so cheap. as you can see from maplins, you're looking at 80-100-ish for a sender that will also send an NTL/Telewest remote signal. Most will only transmit freeview and sky.
  • Guys, how many times do i have to say this, i have Ntl and it works a treat, it should work with ALL digi boxes + dvd players + video players, i was very hesitant when i bought this. When i say it works i mean it WORKS

As requested the full make and model is:

    Technika AV-104

Probably won't help you in the slightest though as AFAIK Technika is a brand that Tesco has adopted for rebadging electronics products.

The item in question is manufactured in China, with Tesco being listed in the instructions as the importers!

Looks very smart - sits vertically about the size of a paperback book, with a curved front edge which holds the IR sensor, and the sockets at the rear edge. No protruding antennas etc.

At the end of the day if you have a Tesco near you, then just buy one, and return it if it isn't suitable.

    HTH - Rufus.

In answer to AfternoonTea's question, the infrared extender described refers to being able to *control* 3 pieces of equipment, not receive from them.

For example if you have a Freeview box, DVD player and VCR all daisychained via scart in to your main television. You can transmit the final output to one receiver (e.g. one additional television in the bedroom). If you take the remotes for the Freeview, DVD and VCR to bed with you, you should be able to control all 3 from the bedroom (by carefully positioning the transmitter box and IR extender downstairs).

You should be able to add additional receivers in your house, but ATM Tesco don't appear to sell the receiver on its own.

  • Thanks Rufus
  • I've just been to my local store (Kettering) but no luck... Is it only Tesco Extra stores that stock this item?

    Thanks

  • I have a second TV in the bedroom. it's a portable tv, not connected to an ariel. Does anyone know whether I could use one of these av senders to receive digital channels from my NTL PACE box downstairs? Need to know before I rush out & buy one.!!!
  • I bought one from lidl for £24.99 and IT DIDNT work for remote control on my NTL box (model 2000t nor DVI1000). These boxes use Irda rather than RC5 protocol (used by most other devices).

It works a treat for signal and i can use my DVD player, but that's no good when i cant change channels on my NTL box.

Does the tesco one work with NTL remote, if so what model number do you have.

    Thanks in advance.
