It does seem to be ironically if you ring in the morning you do get through....Though the amount of different departments that you have to deal with...

One department to deal with my income, had to be put through to another for my husband's income, it's silly why can't one department just do both?!

Thought I'd add that I rang that number and was told not to ring it again; they have made a note on my file!

Hi, my first time on this as i never use sites like this, BUT im soooo annoyed!
I was convinced i HAD renewed but thought id better double check. Having tried for 4days with over 80 calls to the 0845 number i contacted the 01355 359007 number as i was panicking!
I got through straight away and a woman with a broad scottish accent that i had difficulty understanding at times 'dealt' with me. After going through all the security she then told me i HAD TO call the 0845 number. After explaining to her severeal times it was impossible to get through she said i hadnt renenwed and she would on this occasion process my claim, but that she would log that i have used the wrong number and in future when i phoned up my number would be recognised and my call not taken!!!!.
I can only say she wasnt 'directly' rude but she certainly knew i was at a disadvantage to her and if i had said what i wanted to her about her attitude im convinced i would have been mysteriously cut off!! Beware everyone and if you use this number be prepared for threats of reprisals!!!!:(

i was not told off but she asked LOADS of security questions like youngest childs DOB etc, then got me to set up 2 passwords childhood hobby and mothers occupation?????? v odd!!

however once we got past that bit, she was very helpful and told me what i needed to know :D

had to phone them twice in a couple of days cos our circumstances have changed - took about 10 mins on hold each time but i understand that they are very busy at this time.

both people i spoke to were very helpful and efficient and, dare i say cheerful too - considering the amount of calls they are receiving i was impressed with the level of service.

so thumbs up from me or maybe i was just lucky with who i got

    Hi there,
I have just registered on this site as i am at my wits end, went into the bank yesterday as i normally go in once a week to pay bills etc... imagine my shock as the cashier told me that my tax credits hadnt been payed this week and i was overdrawn. i have tried to phone the helpline, but i cant get to speak to anyone, my husband phoned 2 weeks ago to renew` our claim and we havent recieved anything from them, to say our claim is stopped or anything, i really am stuck as to what to do next, can anyone please help me.

I have tried all week to get through to Tax Credits with no luck, in desperation yesterday I posted off my renewal form (1st class) with a letter enclosed detailing some personal changes which I needed to inform them of. Do you think this will be ok? I think I will try ringing them again sometime next week.

Around the 31st of July it's manic at the tax credits office. You probably need to call them after 31st. Rather than the 0845 300 3900 number, there's a geographical number 028 9053 8192. This will be cheaper to call if you have a landline package with features like free geographic calls up to one hour, or a mobile phone.
  • Do you think you could of had an overpyament last year or this?
