they havent got access to your mortgage details or debt history, the questions are provided by experian and your answers verified by experian, the tax credtis advisors dont have a list of all those details in front of them, as for tax credits holding your bank details, employment and childcare , how else do you expect them to assess your claim and pay you?
  • theres no need to be snotty, obviously I know that they have them details, and i expect them to have that! but i dont expect them to ask details about my mortgage, what year it was taken out, how much i owed! my friend who doesn't have a mortgage they asked about her credit cards.

I had cause to call them this week and got through straight away. Monday I think it was.

Call at 7.30 in the morning before work you'll have no issues straight through.
  • Thanks, they dont open till 8, so i had been trying then, but probably hit and miss when they busy! I just feel sorry for people who have pay and go mobs, and are trying to get through! I had never ever had to wait in previous years, I wonder if its because they pay the child tax credit to people claiming income support now, they must be over streched.
  • don't you just hate that, when you finally get through the options and then they cut you off!! they should give you the option of waiting or trying again later. my phone bill this month is £20 more than usual because of trying to get through

Sorry to revive an old thread

Struggled to get this renewal done with me being long term sick, hubby busy with work and on top of it all having to move house.

We have a couple of questions to ask about the renewal and we also need to notify them of a change of circumstance as well. Well two actually seen as last time i told them a change they haven't recorded it...

Anyway is there a better time to call as I am getting cut off each time, tried later in the evening, during the early afternoon/late afternoon. Presumably the mornings are equally as busy?

    Any advice?

I phoned at the start of the month, mid morning and got straight through. I could have been just lucky I suppose. :)
