Morning all
Yesterday was ok sort of stuck to my plans!!
Today have had toast & marmite and a peach for breakfast, lunch will be tuna salad sandwich, dinner veggie casserole & veg.
Going to try and do a run later still have loads to do at home though before I go back to work!!
Have a good day0 -
Morning folks:hello:
I had a cr*p day yesterday foodwise (now there’s a change:rolleyes: ) so WI this morning was a well deserved 1lb on!
I did go dancing last night:dance: and I’ve been for a good swim this morning so hopefully back on track today.:T
Soaked oats with apricots, dates and rice milk for brekkie, I’ll have to get some lunch but will walk down to the HFS and get a nice veggie butty I think.
Tea will probably be lentil saugages with garlic potatoes and courgettes (again)
Not sure what's happening over the weekend, I should be having the grandkids  but under the circumstances
I'm off work next week so hoping to get lots of walking, cooking for the freezer and lottying done.0 -
morning all!
my dinner at a friends ended up being pita, veggies and dips, followed by beef wellington with rosemary roasties and beans. i drank the best part of a bottle of wine (oops) but did manage to say no to apple tart for pudding, woo hoo!!! and no snacks when i got home at 1am.
no pump after work last night, or gym this morning as i've hurt my back - long standing problem, but doesn't make it any less uncomfortable! so, today:
b - oat so simple w. water (no milk in the office)
l - team lunch at Sofra (mediterranean restaurant chain), am trying to talk myself out of a veggie moussaka but we'll see
t - am on a long train journey, so might get a salad box from the market (cous cous w. herbs and fruit, houmous, taramasalata, some vine leaves, olives and green salad, with a pit, yummmmy! i'm so lucky having stuff like that near work).
now usually, i see any kind of long journey as an excuse to pig out - burger at the station maybe, definitely at least one 'big eat' bag of crisps on the train, if not two and probably one of those family size travel bags of minstrels or something. i'm going to really really try to avoid this tonight, hopefully having something yummy but healthy with me for my tea will help
have a great day, and weekend, everybody0 -
Hi all
Checking in a bit late today as I have been busy this morning. I am pleased with the way this week has gone so I am hoping to have lost at least a pound but we shall see tomorrow. I resisted the temptation to jump on the scales this morning as it seems to really get me down if I haven't lost and I go into self destruct mode so I shall stay away until tomorrow
Trying not to eat too much this morning as tea is going to be on the heavy side, thats why I like meal planning, it lets me budget for stodgy meals without feeling guilty
B: 1/2 pot of M & S greek yoghurt with crushed raspberries from FIL's plot (watched OH tucking into cherry pancakes )
L: Maybe HM veg soup if I want anythingBeef stew with mashed sweet potatoes, braised red cabbage, broccoli and green beans from FIL
Doubt I will have anything else as I don't want WI to be a disappointment tomorrow :T

The point is that we all keep trying.. Its not easy because food has us well under its control at times.. Keep perservering and sharing...

Like Jackie, I pop in and out of this thread!
We've a number of very welcome newbies here, so I thought it might be worth re-listing a number of points which regulars on the thread may already know - forgive me.
The main objective for most of us on this thread is not to lose weight by dieting, because if you do that it almost always goes back on again afterwards. Instead, we're trying to adjust our lifestyles so that we can sustain a lower weight permanently. This being the old-style forum, we're mostly trying to do that using home cooking.
A number of people have asked how much weight they should try to lose per week. The normally accepted advice is about a pound a week. If you try to lose faster than that then you may not lose at all, as your body can go into a sort of super-efficient mode when it extracts every last calorie fom the food instead of letting some of it go to waste.
Not everyone wants to count calories, but I find it helps. An adult woman will usually need aroud 2000 calories a day (2500 for a man) to stay the same weight. If your body has to use up 3500 calories from its fat stores then that accounts for one pound in weight gone, so if you reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories a day (to 1500 for women, 2000 for men) you should lose a pound a week. If you're sticking to that limit and don't lose, then you probably need to increase the exercise slightly. (Walk up the stairs instead of taking the lift etc.)
I find that I don't lose weight every week - it goes up and down - so I find it helps to draw a graph. As long as I can see a downward trend over a few weeks, I'm happy! At the moment It looks as though I'm stuck:( , so I know I need to review the food intake and exercise again to try to restart the downward trend. If we are supposed to be thin, why does chocolate exist?0 -
Hi Everyone & Welcome to all the Newbies :hello:
I didn't post at all last week, DH was off on hols and we took the kids away somewhere different each day.
We took packed lunches & in the evening we either had a takeaway or I cooked something quick. My downfall was that we were having a drink (or 6) every night (& crisps & choc).
I didn't weigh myself last Friday at all, but I did weigh in today & was shocked to find I'd lost 2.5 lbs :j .
Food today....
BREAKFAST - 2 weetabix with SS milk & a small banana.
LUNCH - 2 slices toast with ham & a slice of cheese.
DINNER - Roast chicken, baked potato, stuffing, carrots, brocolli, greenbeans & chcken gravy.
I also plan to have a small bit of trifle later. I'll also have a few glasses of vino & a packet of crisps.
Well, the weekend starts here.

Welcome to our newbies:wave: and welcome back to caterina and jackie:wave:
Haven't had the best of weeks foodwise, same as pebbles it's been too much effort to make proper meals.... even the thinking about what to make has been an effort:o ..... so I've been pick pick pick instead too, and have just ended up feeling lardy and bloated. Going to have a rootle round the freezer later to sort out exactly what's in there and plan some proper meals round that.... know there's plenty of HM soups etc so there's no need for me to be shovelling junk down!!
Looks like the site's down tomorrow but I'll be back on Sunday with a much more positive post...... feeling more positive already now I've decided to get a grip and what I'm going to do about it! Have a good weekend everyone!0 -
Hi all
Good to be back! Jackie, I am the worst pop-in-and-out-er in this forum! Don't worry, everyone is lovely and friendly here and will keep you from feeling lonely about your SIL emigration to Canada. Although I really understand, I grieved for months when my best friend moved to Devon from London and I felt really lonely and bereft.
Taplady, those crumbles sound divine, and healthy too!
Kraftykat well done on losing weight!
Droopydrawers, good to be back, it feels like home here! Thank you! Hope you get in a better food mood, I feel for you as I am also in the same lardy boat at the moment I'm afraid. Courage, we will get out of this stage and emerge beautiful and slinky on the other side!
Now, today I did not do too bad, but I put butter on my morning roll (ahem), but then had mozzarella, tomato, basil and stale bread (cubed) salad - I know it sounds horrid but it is really good, it is called "Panzanella" and it is dressed in (moderate amounts of) olive oil and vinegar - delish! A great way to use stale bread, as it soaks up the tomato juice and the oil and vinegar flavours. Fab, poor mediterranean cuisine, in Carluccios they probably would charge you a fortune for it! The mozzarella was an addendum that I just threw in to add protein, but you could put chick peas or beans in it and would be just as good.
Tonight chickpeas veg stew with barley couscous YUMMY!
Will I resist the belgian chocolates that my relative brought in a GINORMOUS box, lurking in the fridge and calling my name loud?
Love to all
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
