I shall not bore you with how I really got side-swiped by The Toad into believing that old chestnut about feeding a cold & starving a fever:mad: Zumbuddy barz da dizzooz bleez:(
My mum always said that was misquoted and that it is "IF you feed a cold you'll have to starve a fever". She goes by the theory if you're not well and don't really feel like eating then you shouldn't force it, but if you feel like eating then you should do. You should listen to your body.
Not you frogga - it's not an excuse to binge
I'm annoyed, OH's ex keeps feeding the kids crap so they are ill every weekend when they come round here. By the time they go back they feel better - coz of eating proper food. The eldest has even been to the doctors coz of his stomach problems and been told it's partly his diet (which his mum was there LISTENING to) - two days later she took them to Mcdonalds for lunch and then gave them pizza for tea:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
He was given fibre stuff to take twice a day and only took it for the two days he was with us (when he always feels better) Then he goes back to his mum and hasn't taken it since, she hasn't reminded him or mentioned it at all, and he doesn't know where it is and is ill again today.
Starting to think she does it on purpose now.
I just don't understand how you can sit there with a doctor telling you that the fact your kid feels sick and keeps getting stomach ache and the runs is your fault and then not do a single thing about itworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi SLM, my goal is very similar to yours (started at 13.13 and want to be 10.7) and am approaching half way there after just over six months. This is after many years of trying various things and the only time I have felt really positive about it because the support here is so good.
Everyone has their own tips for stopping the 'Toad' as we like to refer to the food mosnter that descends over here, blame Frogga for that one. Try to make sure you drink plenty of water, HM (home made) veg soup is a great one for filling you up for little cost or calorific value as long as its not got too many spuds in so if you are a grazer something like that might work for you.
People find it helpful to post their meal plans as others can offer advice if they have a few STS (stay the same) weeks and it also means we are all a bit more aware of what we are actually eating. Good luck
Not sure what to do with myself today, the weather is beatiful and the fence needs painting but I also have some blackberries and apples that need to be cooked up. I am going to make a loaf cake and give it to MIL as I my jars haven't arrived yet so jam is out of the equation.
B: Bran flakes with semi milk
L: Not sure, some salad and falafel probablyHM Steak and ale pie with lots of vegetables
S: Skinny coffees and fruit
Oh yes, the WI.......um.........this week I STS which on one hand I am pleased with but on the other I am gutted. I was saintly all week, went swimming then had a curry last night which I totted up after I posted and I was within my allowance but I still haven't lost anything. Think its due to TOTM being bad. Oh well, theres always next week
Have a fab bank holiday all :j0 -
morning everyone!
welcome to Slm:hello:
Floyd - to STS when its TOTM is good I reckon!:T keep at it and you should have a good loss next week!
Am working later and have got 2 meals at work - dont know whats on the menu so am taking a jacket spud for lunch and am popping to the supermarket to see what takes my fancy for tea.
For breakfast I've had 2 slices of mulitgrain toast with marmalade. I've got banana, nectarine and yoghurt for snacks. These long weekenda st work are terrible for my willpower as the cupboards are usually full of naughty but nice things:rolleyes:
I hope you all have a lovley bankholiday weekend - will try and find time to pop in and keep in touch with you all!Do what you love :happyhear0 -

Welcome Slm
Floyd- your lucky to STS during TOTM. Last month due to water retention i put on 6lb:eek: . I've since started taking water tablets which really helped (although i found i was peeing for england)
Feeling positive today, the sun is shining (for a change) so gonna get all me washing done and dry outside. I might even iron my ever growing pile of clothes, really gotta be in the mood to iron so might as well make most of it while i can be bothered to do it.
Today
B - value weetbix
L - soup n roll
T - HM lasagne
S - yog and small bag of crisps

After reading through the many pages i would like to join you in the weight loss please. I have been trying for two months with another group and seem to need food constantly - much more than normal. I lost 4 lb but then put it straight back on again. I also need keep costs down rather than buying special food for me. i need sensible family food. I would like to get to 10 1/2 stone and am currently 14 stone. I know it will take a while which is why i need constant kicks up the bum to keep me motivate!
Honey your more than welcome on here - we all need kicks too so please practice your aim...:rotfl:
Today
B- 2 bread and turkey
L- Toasted cheese and ham sandwich (yes i know, but i;m worth it) and a bowl of soup
S - Saintly jelly
D - Quorn grill, wedges and beetroot
S- Bread and butter pudding
For those who don't know I set myself a target I MUST NOT go over - its 2134 - my binge level. Today i reckon i'll be eating about 2100 kcals so i'm going to have to be careful - make sure i leave the pudding to reasonably late. I'm hoping because i'm planning it - it should stop any problems later
Good luck to everyone else today - WORK HARD :A

Welcome Slm - I have a similar target to you, I was 14 stone and want to get down to around 10 stone 7, as that's the weight I was when I was working full-time (and 19 years old... nearly twice that now!). I'm only 5 feet 1 so I know I'm very overweight, and it might take me a year to get it all off, but it's something to look forward to.
This is a great bunch of people here, full of encouragement and the (sometimes necessary) kicks in the bum that we all need :rotfl:
Today I didn't have my milky coffee - shock horror gasp! I had a bowl of coco pops instead, and a filter coffee. I shall be having a full english breakfast for lunch, dinner is still undecided but I might have to find something to knock up from the freezer.
Enjoy your holiday weekend, everyone! (((hugs)))"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -

Thanks Tappy and Nicky, I know I should be jumping in circles to STS when its TOTM so I am hoping for a decent loss next week.
My back is killing me, I have been standing in the kitchen since 10am cooking constantly. For my efforts I have the base for 3 steak and guinness pies, 2 blackberry and apple loaf cakes and a huge casserole dish of braised red cabbage so thats tea taken care of and a gift cake for FIL for growing the blackberries and apples (jam jars haven't arrived...boo!).
Managed to strip and dry the bed linen before the rain decends so one less job to do. I guess all this should burn off a few cals and I have been so busy I haven't had any lunch yet!
Take care all0 -
Afternoon everyone - I do hope I can join in with you all. I lost half a stone then I put it back on again big time. Now I know most of this is my medication that I am on but this is seriously starting to get to me now. I weigh 13st 8lbs and it is creeping up again, and I am only 5'3". As winter is approaching and I do love my stodgy old fashioned food I thought I had better do something about my weight before I put even more on over winter.
Any advice would be appreciatedOh I do like my bag of crisps with my lunch, and I have a sweet tooth too. Plus I can't stand fruit - I have to be in the mood for this. We have some reduced Pink Lady apples that I got from Asda yesterday that I am munching on, but they are really the only apples I like.

Afternoon all,
Went to party last night and ate 4 mini sausage rolls, 3 cocktail sausages, 5 triangle sandwiches with various fillings, 3 mini chicken wings and a big slice of chocolate cake...oh and 4 mini bottles of wine, so will be working hard to lose anything next Friday.
Today I have eaten:
B...half weetabix with tablespoon muesli, banana;
L...small portion chilli with couscous left over from last night,
D....will be homemade pizza;
Snacks, apple, beetroot, tomato salad.
Have a good day
