Woo Hoooo I'm back
Im copying this over from the GC thread..but only because toni has just PM'd me for the recipe..so close your eyes ladies if you don't want temptation :rotfl:
Its done... and its a bruiser :rotfl: but best of all it didn't sink :T My parkins always used to sink....
Right i will post the recipe..and add my alterations along side just incase anyone wants to use it -(i doubled it up to use the nanas n eggs):D
BANANA GINGER PARKIN
pre-heat oven to 160c/325f/gas3
grease and line a 7" x 11" tin- 200g plain flour -i used SR flour but still used 1/2 the bicarb -just in case;)
- 2tsp bicarb
- 2tsp ground ginger
- 150g medium oatmeal -I used porridge oats
- 4tbs dark muscavado sugar -I used molasses
- 75g sunflower marge
- 150g golden syrup - I added a bit of the syrup from the stem ginger jar
- 1 beaten egg
- 3 ripe bananas -mashed
- sift flour, bicarb and ginger
- stir in oatmeal
- melt syrup, marge and sugar in a pan over a low heat -then stir into flour mix well
- beat in egg and banana
- spoon into tin and bake for about 1hr until firm to the touch, allow to cool then remove from tin
and my tin was 10 1/2" x 8 1/2"..and it came out about 2 1/2" deep
They drizzle icing over and pieces of stem ginger.. i have just brushed over some of the syrup from the stem ginger.. If we like it and i make it again im adding pieces of stem ginger.. just didn't want to add anymore weight to it incase it made it sink:rotfl:
Now then -how long can i leave it for before testing... i reckon this will get much better with keeping..hopefully all sticky mmmmm
With it keeping so well it would be great for those who have to pack up kiddies lunches... you could miss the ginger out and add a few choc drops, sultanas etc...:T
KentishMaid... Sorry I have never done a printed x stitch..they look more complicated than the counted ones. I do use really fine fabric which I like to work on better than Aida... but if it is linen you have the strands are often uneven so make your crosses different sizes

I'm here! Morning all
Well I am doing OK at the moment apart from a few more of those pesky Daim sweeties jumping into my mouth yesterday before I left work but minimal damage as I didn't have other snacks yesterday so thats OK.
B: Porridge made with skimmed milk and water (added a teaspoon of sugar today because I was gagging after a few mouthfuls and didn't fancy apple or banana in it)
L: HM veg soup and a wholemeal rollWholemeal spaghetti matriciana with a big mixed salad
S: Banana and apple
Booked to go over to Hamburg for the Christmas market and to see a friends band play which I am very excited about. Unfortunately it wasn't exactly moneysaving as the flights were pricy due to high demand that particular weekend but at least the hotel was a decent price.
Have a fab day all, I will be busy in work today through my lunch so might have to catch up this evening0 -
blimey mrsm, that picture is plain cruel - didn't your mum eve tell you not to feed the animals?!
bad day for me, my 'unknown' tea last night turned out to be 3 glasses of wine and a pint of cider on an empty stomach, so i'm not feeling too hot at work this morning! forced myself to still get up at 6 and go to spin, even though i thought i might fall off the bike at one point. physically, i'm not sure i feel any better for it, but at least i've partly justified the boozeathon in my mind now!
must do better today so:
b - bran flakes, all bran, sultanas w. sskimmed milk
l - mackerel sandwich (from a tin, in brine, managed to eat only half of it on monday after all!), small wholemeal bread, some salad and maybe a cheese triangle instead of butter, or salad cream
s - forgot my yoghurt today so fruit and maybe some oatcakes. going into town after work so will need something before i get home
d - not sure, maybe some poached smoked fish, poached egg and some veggies
have a good day everyone, will pop back in later when i've perked up a bit!!0 -

Am hoping to go for a walk later if the weather brightens up. Would walk in the rain but DD1 hates the rain cover and really freaks out when I try and put it on the buggy so walking without rain only for me! Will also be going on the wii fit again tonight but ignoring their weight/bmi thing as it keeps telling me I am gaining even though at SW and on my home scales I am losing?
Have a good day everyone.2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.

Hiya Toni and all :hello: ,
If dog walking was an olympic sport I could represent Britain :rotfl: . DD's pup means she's now phoning when not at work to ask is I'll join them on their walkies. Had to take 'ancient one' to the vets for her glucose check and got pounced on as we left by DD and grandpup, no escape!!:D Anyway A1's glucose levels all over the place as she seems to have started producing some of her own insulin so getting the balance is tricky, to say the least. Oh joy. Meeting DD and GP again after lunch for another walk with 'great protector', I should have the figure of a whippit but no such luck.
Still waiting to hear from the hospital about DS4, he's so fed up of feeling c**p and we don't know what to do about college in September. Poor kid. At least to my amazment he's started reading books. He's never read a book for pleasure in his life but has just discovered the joy of reading and I'm so thrilled. After years of remedial teaching for mild dyslexia.
Cranky hope all goes well for you dad and for your ex Rockie. (((Hugs)))
MRSM what are you doing posting "that" picture, you awful woman. Here am I still in recovery after baking those bloomin' cherry scones I just had to eat :rotfl: :rotfl: . Looks wonderful and wouldn't last five minutes in this house.
Have a great day folks and keep battling on, we can do it :T .

Hello everyone - I've not really been at the computer the last few days - DD1 has been hogging it as she is trying to book a holiday for her and her bf to Rome. She has serious delusions of grandeur though and so far can't find a hotel which meets her wish list for the price she can afford to pay! She wants 5* luxury for youth hostel prices
Anyway, I am still battling on with my no bingeing but eating normally routine. I have been having some nice food, which is not really "diet" food, but the important thing is that I haven't had a binge and I am hardly having any sugar, so I feel less heavy IYKWIM. I will weigh myself at the end of the month and see where I am. I made some hm yoghurt yesterday and it is really lovely, so had that for breakfast with a drizzle of honey and a tbs of sugar free alpen.
Mrs M that parking looks yummy - I love gingerbread and parkin, but never make it as the kids won't eat it and I will end up scoffing the lot!
I am still reading the Remoska thread with interest and debating whether or not to get one...
Well done to all the losers and STSers!
Hope you are all having a great day!Jane

Not a good day for me, OH has been diagnosed with major depression and is back on antid's while we wait for an assessment. Then we'd just come out of the docs when DD rang to say exOH is back in theatre, things looking not good.
I've had boiled eggs and rye toast this morning and have just made my self eat a couple of oatcakes with hummus.
Not feeling very clever myself.
MrsM - that's cruel showing that cake!!
I'll try and get back later.
