  • Hello everyone and welcome to the newbies!

About me - I am 45, divorced and live with my 2 DD's aged 18 and 10. I have struggled with food and dieting for about the last 30+ years - I have been anorexic, bulimic and in recent years a chronic comfort - binge eater. I have lost weight many many times and always put it back on and more, but this time I am determined to get the weight off once and for all.

I have found that the people on this board give me more support and encouragement than any family, friend or professional have ever given me....

I started food optimising a couple of weeks ago and all was great, but then I started to get obsessive about it and so now I am just trying to loosely stick to the FO rules but mainly to do my own thing.

    Today I have had:

Breakfast (brunch really) - 2 slices of dry wholemeal bread with Tesco H/L bacon and an egg. Glass hm barley water.

Lunch - was out in Southport so just had an apple and a small ice cream cone and a bottle of Boots Shapers ginger pop.

Dinner - leftover hm chilli with pitta bread, spread with a little light philly.

Snacks - bit of chicken out of the fridge and half a bag of Walkers French Fries. Large glass of hm barley water and several cups of decaff tea.

Hope you are all having a great evening. I just watched Miss Potter and thought it was great!

Alex - what is Gold top? Is it different sort of milk?

Yes, it's cow's milk but specifically from either Jersey or Guernsey cows, and rather richer in butterfat than "ordinary" whole milk. So each of my milky coffees is, I think, about 350 calories :rotfl:Very indulgent!

    Today I had:
B - Gold top milky coffee
L - bacon and egg in a baguette
D - roast beef, spuds, parsnips and other diced veg with gravy, one chunk of mint aero

That's it, I'm happy with no snacks again :j

Oh we're doing intros? Okay then :)

I'm 37 and my weight has crept up since I left 6th Form in 1989. I live with OH, we've been engaged three years but together for 17 so I always refer to him as DH - especially since soon after we got together I changed my surname to his because it was easier dealing with the schools and stuff that his kids went to (they have all grown up with us, only youngest still at home now). I've never tried dieting because my weight hasn't bothered me, but hitting 14 st was a shock as I'm 5 ft 1.

Anyway I want to get down to 10 stone. We're hoping to move out of Greater London in a couple of months and get a little house somewhere else with a big garden, so that will get me more exercise as I currently spend all day in front of the computer. OH has arthritis so can't work, which means financially things are dratted awkward. But we manage!

You're such a wonderfully supportive bunch of people though, I feel I can actually make some progress amongst such friends :D

    Back again,

Thought I would update and post my details as I can't remember if I have done it before :)

I am 30, married for 1 year but together for 8, 5 feet 9 tall and have been at both ends of the spectrum from 6 1/2 stone to 14 stone which was the turning point for me.
OH is very supportive as he has a very healthy relationship with food whereas I have a destructive love/hate relationship with it so have learnt alot from him.

Being a part of this community has taught me that its not a disaster if you eat a piece of cake or a bag of chocolate buttons but the key is moderation and enjoying what you eat. If you make each meal an enjoyable occasion whether it be a rice salad or a home made steak-pie you will spend less time thinking about what you 'can't' or 'shouldn't' have and more time loving every mouthful.

On that note, I will update on what I had for dinner (porridge for brekkie and no lunch):

D: Grilled salmon steak on a bed of tagliatelle and spinach, I also had a slice of the most delightful bakewell tart with a scoop of ice cream.

I don't feel guilty in the slightest :)

  • morning all :hello:

right well I'm 22, live with my almost 3 yo DS and my OH. Getting married Sept next year. I've always weighed between 10.5 and 11.5 stone, and even after having DS that was true, but since I met OH the weight has crept on for both of us until I weighed 14 st in November last year (when OH proposed) I'm 5ft 9 so at 10.5 st I'm a 12 and happy with that so thats my goal. I got down to 12.5st but for the last few months I've hovered between 12.5 and 13  Getting back on track this week I hope.

Gonna post the table in a minute, I've put on another 2lbs  I thought I'd done ok this week but apparently not.... Must try harder.

    Food for today:
    B- special k
    L- at a friends

    Morning all

Well as i thought -we won't be having our picnic today as it tipped it down yesterday and through the night..and is overcast now too -thrrrrppp :rotfl:

So we are off to Guttersloh to pic up hubbies stickyfoots -for courses he took at the begining of the year, and will stop off at the NAFFI on the way back -just in case there are any super whoopsies ;)

On the upside i have found directions to a local animal park .... hubby was on about going to the Safari park (just looked it up and €23 each  )... the one i found is FREE :j ...plus we can walk round it rather than drive round the safari park...so we are hoping to go there tomorrow instead :D so i will pac a nicpic for then instead :D

    Right food for today:-
    • brekkie -just had 30g meusli with natural yog-my 1st attempt at HM and it could do with being a tiny bit thicker -but nice non the less:D
    • the rest of the meals might be all over the place depending what time we go out/come in -so will play it by ear ;) but tonights dinner will be jackets with tuna/sweetcorn mayo and salad
Toni -you will soon get that ickle bit back off :D

Rockie -has OH ventured into the world of porridge yet? :rotfl:

Its really strange reading everyones descriptions... not many of you are the age i though..particularly BIgMummaF  i knew you had grown up children but i thought you were in your late 30s :rotfl:(not sure how old i must have thought you were when you had said children:eek: ) -you should have kept quiet:p

right i had better get off and get sorted...and drag hubby out of bed soon.. can't stand dilly dallying around:o

have a great day everyone and keep up the good work
