my DS got bitten today at nursery....on the FACE! what happened i'm told is that he tried to take a toy that a little boy was playing with and the kid bit him. now i know my DS is no angel, and it was wrong to take the toy but this bite mark is appalling. its still bright red (this happened about 3ish) and you can actually see the individual imprints of each tooth! my DS is a robust little soul and doesn't make much fuss, now i don't blame the girls at the nursery i don't think they could have stopped it happening and their powers of discipline are very limited. BUT the kid in question (DS had no qualms in grassing up the little horror) is known for hitting/biting and generally being quite spiteful. i'm thinking of speaking to the nursery manager about it on monday. i've taken some pics of the mark as i don't know if she's seen it and i intend to take them in and tell her i'd like the parents informed by letter and shown the photo. or am i being too harsh? i wouldn't normally do anything but i know this kid has been pretty nasty to some of the others and his mum is one of those who just goes "oh don't do that darling" types who never got off their a*se and sort the kid out    i just feel a bit like because my DS doesn't make a fuss that it doesn't get treated as seriously as it should. a bite like that is pretty damn spiteful for a 2 year old!

anyone got an opinion they'd like to express please? :o

Toni ((hugs)) for your DS. If that happened to my DS I would be really   and would prob be demanding that the other kid was removed from the nursery! Esp if he's known for doing stuff like that. You should definitely speak to the manager about it. Hope it gets sorted and the nursery at least have words with his mum about it. xx

I weighed in this morning, being the 1st of August and everything. 13st 5lbs EEK!! Ideally I'd like to be 11st 10lbs so my overall target is to lose 23lbs.
    Today I've had -

breakfast - cereal, apple and banana
lunch - small ham salad sandwich on seeded bread and a bakewell tart (whoops)
tea - pasta in tomato and veggie sauce
snacks - bowl of cereal, fruit

I'm sure I've had something else but I can't remember, been decorating all day again.

Hi Toni ~ Oo this is such a harsh one. My instant knee jerk reaction would be the Dealth Penalty. However......................................... I've seen this happen SO OFTEN . It's HORRIBLE when someone bites your child. Tadpole 2 got bitten twice by the same little girl when they were 6 , yes 6  I demanded to know why he had to keep sitting next to her and they said it was because he was kind and all the other children were horrid to her

I would speak to the manager, and I would show the photo and I would make sure the parents are aware of what happened.

BUT.................................... They can all do things that mortify us. I was SO UPSET when my lovely little Tadpole pushed a child over RIGHT INFRONT OF MY EYES and he smashed his face against a brick wall :o I nearly DIED! He was onkly 2 though and got the biggest telling off in history but I felt sick. My Tadpole is a VERY kind, nice natured little boy who just had a moment when he must have thought " I wonder what will happen if I shove that boy off the wall? Oh, right ooops, that happened!, Wish I hadn't done that now!"

It is spiteful, it is wrong, and I hope the child gets repremanded for it , BUT, he is only 2 and that's how we learn to do the right thing, by doing the wrong thing and then getting told off. I hope his parents deal with it in the right way but it sounds as if they are a bit "woolly"

I would make sure I told my Son that it was an unkind thing to do, that it is not the way to behave and say "we don't behave like that do we?" I would also ask the manager to make the child say sorry for what he did.

Having said all of that you have my sympathy Toni because I know how upsetting it is. My Tadpole had to have a tetinus jab would you believe as the second time she drew blood!!!!!! and the parents NEVER spoke to me again, go figure

toniwoty2009 , I would be sooo angry. I do think you should take the photos with you and show the manager. If the child has done this before his parents should be informed.

When my DS was at primary school a girl in his class scratched his face with a long nail, the teacher splashed some water round it and that was it. His face actually became infected and pusy. The teacher said they had given the girl a 'Time Out'.

    Today so far.....

BREAKFAST: Porridge with semi-skimmed milk & raisins & glass OJ.

LUNCH: Bowl h/m carrot & lentil soup with 2 slices wheaten soda. Small mullerice (nearing useby date)

DINNER: Steak pieces stewed with carrots, onion & gravy, mash & peas.

Having a few drinks now.
  • Toni - how upsetting for you! I think you need to speak without delay to the Nursery Manager on Monday and ask how exactly they dealt with it. When DD2 was at Nursery she was badly bitten on the stomach by a little girl and the Nursery were very good about it, as was the child's mother who couldn't apologise enough and made it clear to me that she had reprimanded her daughter. My friend works in a nursery and told me that staff are not allowed to use the word "naughty" as it is too traumatising - they have to say "silly" instead:confused: , so it is worth asking the nursery what they are doing about it and even talking to the local authority registration officer if you aren't happy with the response. I would hope that the other kid's mother would make voluntary contact with you to apologise - it's what I would do if my child harmed another one. Is your DS up to date with tetanus and so on - was the skin broken? If so, even if it was only a tiny bit, then take him to the GP as he may need a course of antibiotics. Hope he is alright and not to upset by it.

I made a lovely tea tonight - hm hamburgers in wholemeal buns with salad and some oven chips and DD1 and her bf came in and scoffed the lot - so my tea consisted of 12 oven chips! I am not going to have anything else though because I will end up overeating but I am well annoyed! - I mean they ate 4 quarterpounder burgers! I will have some pears in cranberry juice later on - I love them!

I went to make some barley water before and found that I had run out of barley so I will have a go at it tomorrow.

    Evening all,

Disappointed to STS this week, in fairness, given the food and drink consumed last weekend I did well to maintain the weight!

Congratulations to the losers and welcome to the thread to the newbies.

    Today I have eaten:
    B. bacon sandwich and cappucino;
    L. half an avocado and half a mango, glass water;
    D. baked fish, peas and handful of wedges, 2 Twinks hobnobs, 2 custard creams and coffee.
Bedtime..2 slices bread and cream cheese

Don't know what to say about the biter...mine were not angels but don't think they ever took it that far...would agree with Frogga about the culprit only being 2 and needing direction which he is apparently not getting, but would definitely take photo and show to manager making sure that he/she is aware how you feel about it. Must be a day for troubles...DGS2 fell when messing on the stairs and split his forehead on newel post...had to be taken to doctor and stuck together again...once that had been done he was happy as Larry...not allowed to wash his hair for a few days, so result.

RS...commercial stuff....me??? good old fashioned pearl barley, boiled with water for an hour and a half. Packet says to cover barley with water, I suggest that you cover it very well as I had to top it up when the barley started to swell. Was off leaving in car to garage this morning so forgot, but will do it from now on I think as I felt a difference yesterday.

    Have a good evening all

    Evening everyone,
Well done to all you loosers and hi at all the newbies. I've had a nice relaxing day today. After my punishing wk of exercise i realised i'd worked out everyday and not took a days break so today was that day and my muscles are very much thanking me for it. Really pleased this morning as it was time to update my measurements (i record them every month to track my progress) , n i'd lost 1 1/2 inches of my muffin top, 1inch from my waist and 1/4 of an inch of each thigh.:j Still cant seem to make my hips any smaller tho no matter how hard i try:confused: , i'm obviously destined to be a pear shape. I really seem to be stuggling with getting my 5 a day in, partly due to me trying to cut back on our shopping bill and partly because i get bored of eating the same stuff all the time. I'm not very adventurous and wish i was but dont like the idea of spending money on something and then for me not like it like i did with sweet potato yuk!!!

    Today
    B - weetabix and apple
L - ham and salad sarnie HM banana flapjack
T - mince and onions mash and yorkshire pud
    S - pretzels

have a good day tomoro see you then

  • Hey all!

Well, Wednesday went to plan, with the fajitas. But yesterday we were so chewed up from work we ended up having the sausages for the pasta I'd planned as butties at goen 10pm :( We work too hard...

Today was even worse. I worked through lunch, and then grabbed a bag of chips and a bun from the Chippy on the way home. I've also made a serious dent in a bottle of red wine.... And I skipped yoga. The guilt is dreadful.

I'm really flat ATM, I dunno if its the overwork, or TTOTM, or the funeral on Monday, but I have no motivation and feel like a hippo and get upset about it. Compounded by my purchase of scales from Aldi. I'm 14 stone 4. For my frame I should be under 10 stone, and ideally I'd like to be 8 and a half stone (I doubt I'll ever achieve it, but one can dream)

So... my goal for August is a steady 4 pounds. If I lose a pound a week I'll be happy. I know it comes off quicker at first and then slows down, so I'll keep a track so I don't get disheartened later on if it slows :) Cos I'm thinking of an average loss over maybe as much as 2 years. (Christ, I feel deprived thinking about it)

Much luck to all who weigh in tomorrow!

    Luv and hugs,

    PGxx
