Hello all. Can I ask a bit of advice? What do you think is the best way to go about losing weight slowly so that the weightloss is sustained? And how slow should it be? I have not lost weight many times, but each time I have I've lost it quickly and put it back on plus some more. My problem is that I am a piggy and a real snacker, I can only really cope with this by stopping altogether and only eating meals - no snacks at all - when the weight falls off, then I fall off the waggon and it all stops. Is there anyone else like me who is a grazer but also eats meals and has got themselves into a way of life that means they can lose weight sustainably? My problem is motivation, I eat when stressed or bored and forget to say no until it's too late!
(I am 5foot3 and about 11 1/2 stone, so a good 2 1/2 stone overweight. This has crept up ever so slowly over the years and many pregnancies, after each of which I've been a little bit heavier.)
Many, many thanks for any advice! Ness.0 -

Hi ness.
My only advice is from what has worked this time round (so far) - make small changes.
To start with I cut out biscuits and cake at work, I still ate sweets but cut out the high fat stuff. Then we stopped evening puddings  If we were still hungry after tea we would have toast and jam (but I don't tend to pig out on that).
Then a few months later we cut down on carbs in the evening - so no pasta, white rice and less potatoes.
Then about 5 months later I started walking more in my lunch hour to shift a bit more weight.
Seems to be working so far - only 3lbs out of 30 have gone back onBut that's probably from eating biscuits sometimes at work.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi Ness,
When I lost weight last year I firstly reduced my portion sizes by giving myself a smaller plate (i tend to be a bit of a piggy!!) then cut out unhealthy snacks and stuck to fruit, seeds and nuts. Then I started walking and running alternate days. It really worked for meUnfortunatly I had a back injury and had to cut right back on the excersise and the weight piled back on, so now its ok again im building the excersise back up slowly hopfully it will work again :T
Anyway hope that ramble is of some help, good luck with your weight loss

White sauce is yuck! But you could make a peanut butter and beetroot paste and smother it over the veggies :TSay it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

evening everyone - had a 10 hour shift at work today so only just got time to post!
10past6 - yes you can put muesli in the microwave as far as I know - its just like fruity porridge - I like mine cold straight from the fridge so never tried it myself.
Ness - i think the weight loss should be 1 to 2 pounds a week() to be healthy and have a greater chance of keeping it off. Crash dieting just doesn't work in the long term.
I'm off out in an hour for a girls night out and a curry:D I'm having a veggie korma as I dont eat meat and dont like really spicy food. I know its very high in fat but I like it and shall enjoy every mouthful!
By the way forgot to mention I lost 1 pound this week:j thats 2 and a half short of my July challenge! so I will carry it forward to August.
B - 2 boiled eggs with 2 small brown toasts
L - jacket spud small cheese and a salad
S - banana and yoghurt to tide me over till the curry.
see you all soon!Do what you love :happyhear0
