    Hi Gravitytolls

Welcome aboard, although it sounds boring most of my meals follow normal porion size guidelines so if a 415g tin of beans says serves 2 on the can then I eat half on 2 slices of medium toast. Because I am calorie counting this fits in with me having 3 normal meals a day so 300 for breakfast, 400 for lunch and 700 for dinner/snacks.
If I make something myself then I work on the basis of 1 ladleful of sauce (bolognese, chilli, curry etc) per portion with a weighed amount of pasta/rice/spuds.
I make sure I stay full by having huge amounts of veggies with every meal, if I have chilli or pasta I have a side salad in a bowl the same size as the main meal with romaine lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, black olives, 1 tbsp sweetcorn and balsamic vinegar.

If I get peckish between meals I eat clementines, apples or whatever else is seasonal and cheap.

I will try to be more detailed from now on :)

B: 2 medium slices wholemeal toast (no butter) with 1tbsp apple jam on each

L: HM veg soup 2 cups

D: 1 chicken burrito (1 wrap filled with 1 cup shredded chicken, peppers and onions, 2 tbsp refried beans, 1 tbsp guacamole) served with 1 cup spanish rice and 1oz tortilla chips)

Have a great day all :)

Thanks folks, for you rhelpful responses.

Well today was not so good. DH kindly cooked dinner, as he felt I desreved to be treated. Sadly this always means heaps of nosh and chocolate and alcohol. Thankfully he only tries to spoil me every couple of months, and that includes my Bday and mother's day LOL.

Normally after a filling weekend, I figure all my good work for the previous week has gone out of the window, and I just overeat, under the guise of making hay etc., because I 'plan' to get back on the treadmill of health.

Not this time though. Tomorrow I put this weekend behind me, I must simply accept that I am not on a diet, this is llife, and sometimes I will eat goodies, but mostly I will not.

I'll call in on the morrow with my daily intake, and you can all tell me if you think I'm going the right way about it.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.
  • Hi Gravitytolls, sounds like a plan to me! I do the same with 'I've overdone it so may as well give up'. I think many do.

Hi everyone else, I've decided to ease off a bit with the stress of our little cat being so ill :( (vet says probably prognosis of less than 2 months, just waiting for histology results).

So trying to STS for the moment, starting to know my limits at long last .

Will still be popping in to share support though, having s/c 'bean mix' for tea tomorrow, very healthy, filling and low cal so a good start to the week. Usual museli, toast & fruit otherwise.

    Have a good week all

  • I know the problem, gravitytolls. Over the years, I've reduced portion sizes gradually. Not enough though, as I'm still overweight.:rotfl:

What I'm trying to say is, don't expect suddenly to halve the portions you're eating and not be hungry. Cut down gradually. Take the size portion of beans that you normally do, then put a spoonful back. Reduce the three slices of toast to two and a half. After a few months, cut down to two slices and a small tin of beans. If your body is using up stored fat, you should be feeling very slightly hungry - but only very slightly.

If I'm now faced with the size of portions that I used to eat, I can't eat them!

OH and I now share a tin of beans - and there's some left over. I don't have toast at all (he has one slice), but I do have a fried egg and one very lean rasher of back bacon. Not sure how that balances out in calories, but protein does suppress hunger a bit, so I don't find that leaves me hungry.
If we are supposed to be thin, why does chocolate exist?

  • Morning all, great portion size advice agapanthus, I'd never have thought of cutting back gradually, but it makes a lot of sense to find out whats right for us individually, rather than following 'measures'.

I'm having a 'day one' today (again, lol), so:

    B: museli
L: bread & hummus or eggs--not sure yet
    D: s/c bean mix & rice
    S: fruit
Ex: not sure, walking dog anyway & might go swimming, feeling a bit low, so I'll see (I know exercise helps, but ya know...).

    Have a great day,

    Morning all :)

So I made a batch of buttermilk scones yesterday and 2 made their way onto my plate and into my mouth ;) I didn't have butter and they were little so I don't feel the slightest bit guilty

This week I will be experimenting with variety again, both for breakfast and lunch to see if it works for me. It does take more thinking about but if it means I lose more then thats great.

B: 2 medium wholemeal toast with 2 tsp honey

L: HM Moroccan chickpea soup (2 cups)

D: Scouse with beetroot and red cabbage

S: Probably a small skinny cappuccino and an apple

Tonight I am off swimming but I doubt I will do as much as last time as I am still a bit run down from being ill last week. We shall see.

Have a great week all :)

Alreet everyone? Good weekend? I had manically busy one - am decorating and cleaning and then was out on my motorbike yesterday :D however it's tradition that we stop for t'brew and t'pie and t'fag - so not the best for the diet.

AND I made a cottage pie because I have been having cravings for it and rather than eating one portion and freezing 3 I had cottage pie for lunch and supper Saturday and then breakfast and dinner on Sunday :D Well it haz carrots in it so I figure it's not that bad for me

Right I am back on it today - just troffing my porridge and banana, got soup for lunch then stir fry for dinner. I'm mainly aiming on getting some fresh fruit and veg back in my diet and starting exercising again. So I'll be hopping on the X trainer as soon as I get home every day and trying to get back into that habit again

S'lovely to be back *waving to everyone I know* I've noticed a few of us have dropped off, I may have to go out with me hunting stick, round them all up and remind them Christmas is coming and we all need to lose a few pounds so we can put it all back on again then :D

    Ta raaaaa! xx
