Sorry, I know this is off topic, but only a quick line - thought you all might like to see the project I have just finished - hope you don't mind as really proud of it - http://www.flickr.com/photos/29648066@N08/sets/72157606735349634/show/with/2764921496/ - hope this works as not sure how to post a set?
Denise - what a fantastic home. You really are very talented. :T
Jediteacher - Hope your Grandad gets better soon. It must be very stressful for your Grandma.
Need to go to Mr T later on. Have my NOTW voucher so need to get to £30, but we have friends coming for supper tomorrow so it shouldn't be too difficult. Will post later and update sig.
Enjoy the sunshine everyone - it's quite a rarity this year!!!!

Morning!
Today will be a NSD for me,I need nothing and refuse to spend a penny (well apart form the £20 I just forked out for sports camp for the kids but thats not a real spend iykwim)
I made custard cookies last night but they weren't that great..I think I did somthing wrong as it was a sloppy mess rather than a roll iykwim
I need to defrost the chicken and have everything else in or dinner.I'm also going to make a bread and butter pudding rather than throw the stale bread away :-)

Morning all,
NSD for me yesterday. Plan to do some more baking and batch cooking for the freezer today. Children go back to school on Tuesday - can't believe how quickly the Summer break has passed - so will preplan some light meals as they come home from school for lunch each day. Will also try to make some bounty bites as the kids love them and I haven't made them for ages.
Have also ordered a remoska from lakeland as everything I read on the remoska thread sounds really good and since I ordered before the 31st August they will honour the old lower price (cheaper by £10) which is advertised in the Summer catalogue since I ordered by phone - a tip I picked up from money_spider on the remoska thread (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=12948851&postcount=231)
Denise - your project looks great -just like my home - I wish!!
Happy money saving

The "long tomatoes" were they sort of plum like but longer and squarer? great description eh:rotfl:
Like the one at the bottom of this link
http://www.sanmarzanoimports.com/san_marzano_tomato_seeds.htm
If so -im growing some of those and would happily save you some seeds if you have the urge/space to have a go at growing your own next year
I have a tomato fetish...growing 10 different varieties this year -30 plants -with more planned next year too
OOoOOooh yes it was those, wow, really wished I had nabbed some now they look great! I would love, love some of those please if you remember :T
I do like tomatoes as well - especially red and green tomato salad with a simple dressing - never see green ones here though...MFW #185

I roasted some of the lovely mediterranean peppers last night for freezing. Used some of the rest in the pasta/pesto/parmesan we had last night, tonight we are having chicken stirfry with red thai curry and will add some pepper to that too, yummy.
Mr EL wants to bake bread Sunday, I'm so happy he enjoys it - finds it relieves stress and he loves that it's fresh (so do I). He does that, I make the homemade yoghurt, then we are both going to make batch cooking tomorrow. He has the morning off for once tomorrow so will eb nice to have a lie in.
Desperate to get a freezer in any condition - we have agreed we will keep it outside (our kitchen is tiny and our undercounter fridge only has 1 shelf for freezing), wrapped with a blanket when the weather is bad, at least we can then batch cook more and save cash. In Portugal people used to keep frezers anf fridges for restaurants outside all year round and it was fine... apart from the fact our winter here is a *tad* colder... hmmm...MFW #185

Thanks EL, I'll get cracking on the spread sheet this evening. Hope everyone has a lovely Friday. Looks like I just need some basics, bread and milk. Did anyone else see on the BBC this morning that ASDA are selling 2 pints of milk for 50p? I'll have to go tomorrow and see how much is left. I freeze mine and it's fine. It's up to me now and nobody else.0

Hello from a sunny Manchester!:j
A NSD for me yesterday and should be one today too - the "in-laws" are taking OH and I out to dinner for his birthday tonight so a free tea AND we have clients in work today so a free buffet lunch too!
Not good for the diet though:o
I made a potato, chick pea and spinach curry last night - it was yummy (I copied the recipe from somewhere on MSE!) and I have another generous portion left over for a day on the weekend.
I did have to pop to Mr Ts for a birthday card and wrapping paper last night and succumbed to a birthday cake for OH for today - I know you'll all say I should have made one BUT the last time I attempted a cake ( a basic sponge from a recipe my mum does with her eyes shut!) it turned out to be about 1/2 an inch thick and rock hard - just like a frisbee! I ended up in tears and the cake went straight in the bin - I have to accept that I'm just not cut out for baking! The Mr T cake is very big, nicely iced as a football pitch and was only £5 so not too bad....
Am trying to resist Mr Ts over the weekend - I only need soem squash, maybe some dog food and a bit of fruit and a leek so I'll go to the "village" shops instead - a bit more expensive but I only buy what I need and the walk does me good too!
OH moving in for good next weekend so all hell will break loose on the GC front - we'll have to have a go by trial and error to find an acceptable shopping budget - we'll see!
Have a good weekend,
R
