CEX going insolvent rumour - how to verify?

OK Mr. Manager, the indications say one thing and you say another. So why not put an end to this silliness (if it is that) and just provide some kind of confirmation from your bank that you have indeed been the victim of an unfortunate error. For the life of me I can't see why CeX are not falling over themselves to do this...0
-
Yes, some proof would be lovely then I could stop blaming CeX for the non-arrival of my order and switch my blame to RM for taking over a week and counting to deliver a packet.
Of course, there's still the issue of customer service. "We've posted it - wait 28 days" but if they want to lose customers with this helpful attitude, that's no skin off my nose.0 -
Just thought I'd post the little info I know (or at least have been told - this is by customer services and a couple of store managers)
1) Their overdraft with HSBC was due for renewal, the financial director being in the US had forgotten and hence on the day it expired, they didnt have the overdraft to pay for items - cheques bounced
Another versions:
2) They have changed banks from HSBC to royal bank of scotland - every cheque made out from HSBC has bounced because they realised cex were changed banks and withdrew the overdraft
3) I have actually phoned a direct line for one of the managers at Cex - I was told I would be passed onto the supervisor, seemed really nice, then hung up on me! Obviously had NO intention of transferring me. Tried to ring all day and the guy had taken the phone off the hook - they have obviously been told to avoid contact with customers by phone, probably cos they dont know what to say. Absolutely disgusting! It just adds to the suspicion dont u think?
With regards to companies house, I phoned them last week to gain clarification. The gentleman on the phone said that nothing had been reported to them yet, but until the day the administrators are appointed, which can be a number of weeks down the line, none of us will know.
Basically I have no idea what is happening. I was hold by head office to re-bank my bounced cheque earlier this week and was promised that it would now clear - guess what - it bounced AGAIN. Now i dont know about you lot but that can't be a good sign. I've re-emailed saying that I want a response ASAP but we're already 4/5 days down the line and nothing. A message on their forums also stated that new cheques and gift vouchers have already been posted - so where's mine?
I have contacted trading standards and consumer direct to see what they can sort out. I'm not prepared to be fobbed off any more!

They're just having people over left, right and centre. The amount of people waiting for wages, payments, orders, refunds from CeX etc on the web is astounding.0

If they're saying they're changing banks then I'd be suspicious - the two chains I worked for last year that both went into administration told the stores to stop banking cash days before filing for administration because they were 'changing banks'. What this actually meant was that their overdraft facilities etc had been withdrawn by the bank, and that they were hastily trying to arrange alternative facilities to fend off going into administration.
What I can't believe is that CEX are inspiring such loyalty from their own staff, having not paid them! They must be/have been one hell of a company to work for.0 -
The silence from CeX is deafening isn't it?0

ok all staff are paid in full now. Banks been sorted (yes they were changing banks) and they are not going bust trust me, are single store (not been the biggest or best) has budgets over 30k per week and we always meet them if not far surpass them.
Banking for stores has reacently been increasing to fund cex fest (a staff get togeather sorta thing once a year including beer etc...in a weeks time so if the company was having funding issues does anyone not think they would cancel renting fields tvs beer tents and stages would be outa the question?)
Quit your worrying it will all be sorted, i know there is some major problems it appears with theo nline store but please be patient all will be sorted, customer service has been moved this week to a email based line as it couldnt cope with thousands of requests of "do you have cash at **** store" every day.0 -
www.gazettes-online.co.uk is also showing a winding up order, presented 14th April, (LONDON GAZETTE) to be heard 30th July0

The problem is they are claiming my order has been posted over a week ago. They claim next day postage - which would have been Thursday - they then posted it on Saturday, they say. That's not next day in my book, but I don't have a problem with that IF it has indeed been posted. Clearly it hasn't or it would have arrived. That isn't a problem with the online store, that is a problem with them lying about my order, compounded by refusing to look into it until after the 23rd of August.
I also have a problem with them only answering one out of five emails and keeping me on hold for over an hour at my expense.0 -
