Out of interest, their terms and conditions state

From what I am hearing, EDF have not been writing to people and letting them know of their price increases.

However under the regulations they have 65 working days(13 weeks!) to formally notify you of an increase; and that still leaves them a long time to go since their latest increase.

I wonder if it might be a tactic to delay notification in the hope that by the time customers receive the letter, all other companies will have raised their tariffs.

It may be, although it would be Ofgem who set the rules so I suspect it's simply a finger-in-the-air number.

The thing is that they nearly always all increase prices at the same time, so it's actually a sensible tactic to wait until as late as possible, knowing that they're unlikely to notify you for a long time, then switch to the cheapest tariff - then they have to honour the lower price.

OK so this only works if (a) you're on the cheapest tariff you could be already and (b) if after the price rises, a different supplier is cheaper. But if the second one is true, then who cares, and of course the first one should be true - this is MSE!

If it's in their T&C then no. Phone them up and ask for your bill to be recalculated.

Just called EDF and was told that they hadn't received my letter! (Hmm)
Told the guy that under their T & C they couldn't charge me the new prices during the change over period. He agreed and is sending out a new bill with only the old charges applied. This will continue to the end of my contract with them.

ok ive had my bill today for my online v5 and its not good news it has had a price increase

the northern prices for elec only as i havent had a gas bill yet are

    BAND A 12.02p (was 10.64p) increase of 1.38p
    BAND B 7.75p (was 5.95p) increase of 1.80p

my yearly bill will rise by about £50 just under a 20% increase

they still seem pretty cheap compared to other suppliers so i am glad i didnt jump ship like many others on v5 did
