Can I join in? I'm determined to be organised before I go back to work in September. I already supposedly do the Flylady thread but I struggle when I'm at work so my idea is that if I can get organised over these 6 weeks then it should be easier to keep on top of when I go back!

I agree juliejim. I think being organised is a life time thing, but having the 6 weeks holidays as a time limit can help us all get as organised as possible so that it will all be a lot easier to keep on top of come september and help simplify life a bit.
Hats off to beemuzed for starting this.
I wrote a menu plan for the week last night and am busy writing a shopping list on the computer to go with that meal plan. Instead of throwing it away and having to come up with new menus every week I'm going to save it on file so that I have the meal plan and the list ready to use again sometime (say on a month rotation). Saves me writing out new lists too - I can just print one up and delete or add as necessary. Lets see if my 3 year old leaves me alone for 10 minutes to do it (I've stuck her in front of a disney for an hour)! I bet most people already do this - I am so behind. I used to be organised but I lost my brain when I had a child.
Here's me trying to get organised and simplify life and my husbands on about having another baby soon - eh??!!!
Getting shopping delivered tomorrow - don't always do it but It does save time and effort and you can save your shopping lists for next time you do it too. Does everyone else do this? Do you think it helps you be a bit more organised?0 -
Doesn't help me in the slightest! I just end up with lots of out of date lists and feel even more miserable at the proof of my incompetence! Hey ho. I am now having a go at being responsible to you on this thread - let's see if that works.
Today:
one black bag cleared out and one black bag of old clothes cleared out, the wardrobe put up and 1 hour's work in the scullery.
Nag me, do!
thanks

Topher - those poundland tiles are good and very easy to fit as they are adhesively backed - plus they are easy to cut (nce you read the instruction on how to do it on the back of the packs) I got 14 packs to do my hallway which was a dark dingy brown council tiled floor - now have like a marbled greyish stone effect and it looks much nicer and brighter in there.
Edited to say - yeah its going to be 26 degrees today so i think i will take littlie down the beach for a bit and keep my promise - before coming home via Tesco and then making dinner.
Mine too is an ex council house with deliciously sludgey brown tiled kitchen which is what we're trying to cover, so thanks for that.

Know what you mean about lists, re: my earlier long list, I've worked for about three days and barely done anything on the list.
AARRGH
Still managed to be doing the things I hadn't thought of.

Hmmm, I need o get my **!& into gear methinks - apart from being awake half the night, then falling asleep and oversleeping IYSWIM I've little done today. Went into Cambridge to look for a dress for DGD's christening later this month - took ages,as of course summer dresses are no longer in season are they? Anyway, did eventually find something in M&S. Would have made something, but no real time as we're away from Wednesday for nearly 2 weeks.
Have bread baking and dogs walked, but so far, little else. Kick me someone!Resolution:

feeling a bit jaded today. However, I'm doing a bit of sewing. Bought a nice skirt with broken zip cheaply from a charity shop. It has a back elastication so I am just taking out the zip and sewing up the hole.
Dd bought me a lovely white cotton dress shirt. I've had to move the buttons out a little (ahem) I'm making the sleeves 3/4s and shortening it by 3 inches.
Not a wasted day then.0 -
I am going to becoming a naturist to save on washing, drying and ironing.
Only kidding:rotfl:0 -
Well, the weather looks a bit ominous here at present. Need to get out with the dogs soon - we all need a proper walk today! Must spend the morning at school - haven't been in yet since last Wednesday, so the post will be piling up and I have a tray full of paperwork to look at anyway. We set off on holiday tomorrow afternoon, so a mountain of jobs to get through today, including washing (WM on as I type), ironing, sorting, packing, cleaning house so neighbour feeding cat won't be too shocked, etc. etc!
Am impressed by all everyone's getting through - well done! Also pleased to see others wanting to join in - climb aboard, always room for more!Resolution:
