Ooh...the loft! A real no-go area just now! We moved here 25 years ago - and I know there's at least one unpacked packing case up there! That I am leaving until I've retired in December as it'll be a major project that I'll have to tackle just one box at a time! For years we've not ventured past the area we can reach from the ladder - just for the suitcases and the Christmas decorations! Well done you, M.E.!!Resolution:

Quite a good day today - went into school and did some paperwork, also spent some time beginning to sort the staffroom out (we've had it painted over the summer and everything from the shelves is piled in the middle of the room!)
I've been thoroughly enjoying this thread, people are so motivated, and the enthusiasm is infectious!
Beemuzed, I am curious as to why having organised your own home you go into school and start sorting out the staffroom? Obviously after painting it has to be done for the beginning of term but shouldn't you be getting some help?
When I worked in a school (and congratulations on your coming retirement by the way) we built clearing/sorting the 'shared' things into our yearly plan. I know you'll never crack some things (like coffee cups!) but having a sort out of old resources etc was built into staff meeting time. It was very theraputic and when it was done, it was so much easier for the cleaning staff.
I'm sorry if this sounds a bit 'schooley' but I think there's a general point that everyone should help with the sorting out unless you live alone of course!0 -
Hi maman!
Generally I'd agree with you! However, I don't think my staff will really want to be sorting out the staff room on Day 1! It'd be much nicer for them to come in and be able to use the room. Caretaker has repainted, but he doesn't know what goes where - all the shelves were emptied onto the chairs in the centre of the room at the end of term. Won't take too long to replace - and then the room will look welcoming, even if some things need moving as I've got it wrong! Just feel that coming into a mess will start the term off on the wrong foot!Resolution:

Well, been knocked a bit off course this week with DS being taken ill and in hospital, but here we are at the last w/e. Hopefully a little bit more to be achieved in the next couple of days - especially as today I won't be able to spend time on this site! Hope the rest of you are still going strong.Resolution:

Well, that's my summer holiday over! Somewhat highjacked in the last few days by DS's illness, but that's life for you!
So, my last ever term at school about to begin! I'm a bit scared actually! I do feel I can look back at this holiday and see that actually I've achieved a lot - very few days totally wasted. The house is pretty tidy, the ironing basket remains empty, paperwork is up to date and I've even completed some sewing. Many thanks to all who've accompanied me along the way - because I felt I had to be accountable to you I've accomplished more than usual. Good luck to those who were planning to carry on a little longer!
Just realised that this will be my 1000th post! Wow!Resolution:

I just want to say a MASSIVE thankyou for this thread :T
I have spent the last month decluttering my entire house. I have sorted paperwork, tidied to within an inch of my life  and even persuaded DH so sort out the garage.
My house is now gleaming and extremely organized and I've been managing to keep it like it too (although it's early days!)
Anyway, I only did it because of this thread so:
:)Do more of what makes you happy:)0
