Morning all :hello:
Thanks you for the lovely birthday wishes. :A For the record I am thirty flipping five. :rolleyes:Snowy... You wouldn't get away with that kind of behaviour if Pink was here.
I've had a lovely morning. OH has taken it off work and he and the girls have popped out (I think to buy a cake)I need to do some shopping this morning as we're having friends for a bbq tonight but I'm keeping it simple with steaks and salads. The weather is scorching so it should be a good night.
I got lots of lovely gifts including a herb drawer thingy which was clever of OH as he has obviously noticed me drying the garden herbs. I also got 2 new books (one of which I'm currrently already reading) :rotfl: My greenhouse is ordered so I wasn't really expecting any other pressies.
I even got a card all the way from sunny France from Pink-winged. :T
Better go and tidy up the breakfast stuff.
Hugs to Beth, Candygirl, Poppy and Lorenzo.
Glad your health news was good Aussie.
Good luck at the solicitor Tired Mum.
Good luck to Essex Boy for his op.
Byeeee. Haribo x0 -
Morning peeps
Redruby - fantastic news about the dogs, it`s great to know they are going to be ok:j
My two are flaked out after their walk, it`s really hot and sticky here but isn`t sunny. I`ve put the washing on the line anyway and it`s all thick things so i hope it dries.
I`ve just done the long awaited freezer inventory that i`ve been meaning to get done for over a week and found that i can get another weeks worth of meals out of it before i defrost it so thats good news:D
All my ironing is piled up on a chair as i`ve been intending to make a start on it for the last few days but it`s getting bigger not smallerit`s just not ironing weather - thats my excuse and i`m sticking to it
I`m off to the shops shortly for some cottage cheese and i may put some petrol in the car whilst i`m there as the price has dropped slightly.
Almost forgot - Happy Birthday Haribo :bdaycake:
Have a good day everyone.

Happy birthday haribo
Well, I've had a good morning. Dr Jeckyll is in the states, and in his absense the grad studies director and the head of sector have decided I don't need to see him any more, attend meetings and are going to find me an office away from him in the department so I don't have to see him. So from today I am officially untouchableThey haven't told him yet, but I'm sure he will comply when he realises that he either behaves himself now or the harassment officers will get pulled in again - as he has quite a history it wouldn't just be slapped wrists this time.
I finally feel relaxed. It's really weirdcel x

Back again
Just had a phone call from the hospital thought they were asking for me to go & pick OH up but instead they advised me that the operation wont be going ahead because he has a low pulse rate. Apparantley he is going to see a cardiologist (sp) but thats all they could tell me, dont know if he will be staying in overnight or if they will be sending him home and sending out another appointment.
Hopefully he has a low rate as he is fit though doesnt do exercise as such iykwim, anyway I am in limbo so think will go and wash some floors to take mind off of things. Men, they always cause problems whatever they do! :rolleyes:0 -
Essex-girl - (((hugs))) to your OH.
Candygirl - I loved the flashing cake almost as much as I loved the almost flashing bloke with his balloon!
Cakie - welcome to you; you've joined the nicest thread! As for the cake, it's a recipe that was originally posted by ArkoniteBabe and goes like this:
I carton yoghurt - whatever flavour takes your fancy or you can use plain and add flavourings which is what I do. I have adapted the recipe slightly using less flour than the original and less sugar because I found it too sweet. These quantities are the ones I use.
Use the yoghurt carton to measure out 2 cartons self-raising flour, 1.5 cartons sugar, 1 carton sunflower oil and 3 beaten eggs. Mix altogether and bake at Gas 5 (375/190 electric) for around 25 mins until a fork pushed into the centre comes out clean.
I divide the mixture into two lots and add drinking chocolate powder to one and sultanas and mixed spices to the other but you can vary the ingredients to whatever you want; then I put them into a 7" sandwich cake tin.
As soon as the choccie one comes out of the oven, push Maltesers into the cake - I push them in with a teaspoon because it's too hot to use fingers! The Maltesers then ooze slightly into the cake - yummy! To make it even more sinful you can ice it with glace icing, buttercream or melted chocolate.
The beauty of this recipe is that you don't have to get the scales out to weigh all the ingredients; I find that really useful if you are in a hurry.
Well, I went to the bank and then the supermarket and then the charity shop where I picked up the most gorgeous white lace bedspread for £1.55. I just thought it was heavy net curtains which I don't need but the material was so gorgeous so I thought I'd buy it anyway. It probably cost a lot more than £1.55 when it was new!
It is SO hot here but I daren't complain after it took so long to get going. I have all the windows and doors open and have even put on some shorts - it must be summer!
Well, I'd better go and get on with something.
See you all later.

Thanks Mioliere, I'm always on the look out for new cakes.
So the yoghurt goes in as well? Is it a standard little yoghurt pot?

mioliere I agree Rhonda is THE most beautiful place, and so unexpected up in the mountains. When we went, there was an outdoor ice-rink, and we spent ages watching the youngsters....and some oldsters .....skating around.Such a lovely place to just stroll around, and the caves where the villagers used to live were amazing, I wonder how on earth they used to get to them
definitely worth another visit. We were there with a Lions Group around 30 of us, staying in San Pedro at the Cortijo Blanco Hotel. We had a fantastic time
