daily for 24th July 2008

This is the daily for the most important day on the calendar, Haribo Junkie's birthday. Normally this is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. Today the little bit more will be all about how Haribo is another year older yet isn't another year wiser. Normally the daily is a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day with to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. I bet Haribo's achievements so far has been to down two bottles of voddy blue label and eat a half ton of sweeties. But then it is her birthday! Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning. Somebody is going to get spanked for starting the thread early!

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well. Don't forget about poor Haribo...she's really really really old now and needs to be reminded that she's officially ancient. Have a nice day Haribo!!

Morning everyone

Just wanted to start the daily for 24th July when it was in my head that it's Haribo's birthday today. I bet the silly old chick has forgotten! Happy birthday Haribo!!!xxxx

Massive big hugs are required for so many - some of us are really going through the mill - Rage in Eden, beetheebee, tired mum, Troo.... Troo, please make your tea then go on strike!!! Redruby, I hope the doggies are pulling through.

Sorry, my head's not quite with it right now, I need to have a kip.

My new job was OK - they are incredibly disorganised there, and it seems that I have joined a department where everyone is a temp and the longest serving person is six weeks:rotfl::rotfl: I doubt if I will be staying that long myself....above all else I want a permanent job and so my hunt will continue!!

The washing machine has finished it's run, so I'll go down now and unload it.

Have a lovely day everyone, especially you Haribo!

Snowy

Good morning Snowy and all who follow. What a shame that you think you'll still have to look for another job - I hope everything works out for you one way or the other.

    Happy Birthday Haribo!:bdaycake:

(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Beth, Candygirl, Mrs Mix, Tired Mum, Jayward, AnnieS and all who need one.

Troo - sounds like you will have to go on strike. I finally trained mine to put their dirty washing in the laundry basket or it didn't get washed, hang their wet towels up and so on and I definitely banned cups and plates under the bed - it took a lot of nagging and I almost gave up but it worked. I think they learned a lesson about how it's supposed to work in a household when my sister just took off for a few days and went camping in the next county in a one-man tent on her own! Her DH and her children could not believe it but I knew how she felt and it did the trick! I'm not suggesting that, of course, but just wanted you to know that you are not alone in having an unappreciative family. Now that they are grown-up with homes of their own, my two boys can't believe how selfish they were!

Well, I hope we're in for another nice day - it looks very promising out there.

Dinner tonight will be Spag Carbonara which I will try in the Remoska, I think. We'll have the rest of the Impossible Pie for pudding. Last night we finished off the breast of lamb which I roasted in the Remoska on Sunday (with the potatoes underneath it). I usually find it quite difficult to get right in the main oven so I am encouraged to try brisket of beef as well and any other cheaper cuts of meat that usually need slow cooking. Anything to keep costs down! One of the posters on the Remoska thread reckons it takes about three months for it to pay for itself - she costed a sausage casserole at 6p as opposed to 35p in a conventional oven and that is a real saving.

Anyway, I'm 'mioliering' again so I think I'll have a mooch on some other threads then have a shower.

See you all later; have a good day!

    Morning All

Not got a lot planned today although I have the twins for the day as well as my own 2. Had a bbq at my parents last night so I relaxed while my mum ran after the kids and my dad cooked the tea.

Looks like it's going to be a nice day today so may go to the park but not the one closest to me as they've got the carnival on this weekend and I think the fair will already be set up - I'm not paying for 4 kids to go on rides!

Happy Birthday Haribo:bdaycake: have a lovely day!

    Hugs to all

    Hello Possums,

Well it's nearly the end of a crazy week here in Aussie land. Bucketing down the last two of them. I finally get a day at home tomorrow. :T Not having Ninny day but a little bird told me he's coming for a visit. :D XDIL got the job and starts work on Saturday. OS is having him weekend nights so that's a plus. ;) I went to the dr's today for my results. My thyroid meds need to be increased a little bit but it's getting there. Another blood test in 2 months. The good news is my chol went down from 7.5 to 5.3. :D All those long walks to pinch sea grass have paid off.

I lashed out the other day and bought myself a new sewing machine from an ebay shop.Bargain. It arrived today so I've been playing on it all afternoon. It's been fun. :D We have signed up for the solar panels (power) but that won't happen for another 2 months. Takes that long for the govt to approve of the rebate. We finally got a date for our furniture and we go over next Saturday to pick it up.

The new shopping complex on the other island opens Monday. :T It will be so handy now not having to go to the mainland for groceries. Much easier doing it inter-island. DSis went back to the specialist today and they are really happy with her progress. So that's good. I must arrange another visit with her at the s'centre soon.

    Haribo Happy Birthday. :bdaycake:
Snowy Have you met up with Shez & Meanie yet? ;)
Ruby Hope the dogs are ok.
Princess fixielust Hope Lorenzo's hands not too sore today.
<hugs> to those not well or a bit down. Will pop back later. Byeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning.

The county council decided that 5am was a good time to start the tar and chipping re-surfacing today.. very nice of them.

All is well in Cornwall, turning cloudy again and I bet it will rain sometime later.

Work today will be busy, did not get home until 7.30 last night and so never had energy to paint anything.

Off to prison today (for a legal visit). Then hopefully home for an early tea....

    Must get ready... Cheers Pards

    Good morning all

    Happy birthday Haribo.

had a bit of a small shock this morning, i listed my pram system on ebay and it sold full asking price within an hour, ds3 is walking places now so we just have a small stroller for tired legs now (just have to wrap it all to send now) i also had an item taken off for using an innapropriate word (hmmmm)

in town later boys had some photos done, going to look and decide if i want them and to pick up the one that come with it all (sitting etc and 1 photo was only £15)

something with chicken for tea tonight, im not one for cooking in the hot weather and the boys dont seem to eat much untill its cooled down

    have a good day

Morning, all. Having some laptop problems today, so just a quick greeting for now - hopefully more sorted later! Off to work in a mo - the OH is giving me a lift in (lovely man) and training today. Wish I didn't worry so much sometimes though! Omelettes for tea using up bits and bobs from the fridge, and some new potatoes that mum didn't want from last night's visit.

(((hugs))) to those in need. Have a good day, all.

Lots of cooking today as I have friends coming for supper tomorrow. Cakes, cheesecake, chocolate torte, and a quiche. The weather forecast is iffy, so if we can't barbaque, I'm making a chicken casserole. It'll go in the freezer if the weather improves ;)

I need to do some Flyladying too - hoover round, kitchen floor and surfaces, tidy the dining room, and a pile of ironing

Anyone seen Crazychik and dlb recently

Princess Pixiedust - another PP - will you be Prin Pix :D

Fizzel - go on, tell us the word, you know you want to ;)

:hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: for Mrs Mix, catowen, Shez, Aussie, Jayward, Troo and the other hussies

Have a great day, everyone, Penny. x
