support, understanding, laughs and compassion will be the name of the game I bet - in fact I foresee people putting on weight deliberately just so they can join in!

Am actually looking forward to this now! Am going to have to do it in baby steps, can't manage big ones. I would like to lose 20lb by Christmas, so that will be about 1lb a week, that should be ok. Hopefully I will enter 2009 being able to fit in my clothes again! And it's not very DFW but I think I will treat myself to a lovely pair of jeans if I do it.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Hello, I'm up for the weight loss thing. I will be doing it a bit different though and wont be doing WW or anything - I've been given the following advice by my hypnotist (don't ask!) if it helps anyone?:
- Eat slowly
- Chew thoroughly
- Notice the taste
1. Only weigh yourself once a week
2. decide on a place to eat and eat only in this place - NO TV (one for home and one for work)
3. Set out a plate, knife and fork even if only eating something small
4. Dine don't shovel. When eating, only do that. Don't watch TV, read etc
5. Chew each mouthful thoroughly before swallowing
6. Stop eating the moment you feel you have had enough. Always leave the table feeling you could have eaten a little more.
7. Feel pride instead of guilt when scraping unwanted food into the bin. It is far more of a waste to put it into your body to turn to fat.
8. Never go shopping when you are hungry, this avoids impulse buying.
9. Find a picture of yourself at your ideal body weight. Put this where you will see it often.
10. Visualise yourself as having the ideal body weight and shape NOW
Hope that helps. It's basically saying you can eat anything you want (within reason) so long as you concentrate on the food and its taste as you're eating it. I live alone (as do a lot of us here I assume) so the eating alone at a table thing is going to be difficult, but I will put on some nice music and take my time while eating.
I'm going on holiday next Tuesday so will properly join in with the weight loss when I'm back.

SarahB and all, we've all been there - just try to be kind to yourself and it WILL pass. I agree with Marleyboy if you really want to contact him, then do - at least you'll know you did everything you could. (Somebody said the relationships we carry with us are the ones that were never resolved, and I find it's true. I hardly think about the guy who broke my heart as I know we tried everything to be together and that we could say anything to each other, but am still irritated at the one who cheated on me as I just left and never actually told him how angry I was.) If a text doesn't seem right, how about a letter? Just writing it can be therapeutic, even if you never send it. And although you need to keep your self-respect, sometimes that isn't the same thing as your pride. (Took me a long while to figure that one out).
Marleyboy it sounds like you could also do with some of these :grouphug:
I'll earwig on the diet buddies progress, sounds like a fab idea. My diet could do with improving to benefit my skin if not so much my shape. I completely agree with the eating at a table idea - I hate eating off my lap and now always have space at the table complete with cloth napkin in place of kitchen paper. Makes a meal feel much more like an important part of the day and not just something to be rushed through without thinking. (Not so convinced about the not reading bit!)
As update on previous challenges:- Have agreed with flatmate will get double futon for spare room, now looking for one.
- Have completed SOA and added DFW info to sig - decided against posting since there isn't much I can do to trim regular outgoings any further, what I need is motivation to not spend!
- Haven't done any Pilates yet as dad been back in hospital and rushed off to other end of country - but have given myself Friday off to catch up on this and other things (see, being kind to self instead of bullying myself into going to college with 6 am start having just got back to town shattered).

Hi guys,
Been a while since i last posted, just caught up with all the posts from the past week or so.
Would you believe in that time i havent done anything to help with reducing my debts- in fact was miserable at the weekend - so what do i do... go shopping - i know not good.
Went to a wedding a couple of weeks back and met a chappy... we got on so great - it was really nice meeting someone and actually liking them - didnt think i would met anyone, but what happens afterwards - nothingI left him with my number - but havent heard from him.
He seemed like a player so i shouldnt be surprised - more annoyed that i fell for him - why do i always go for the wrong ones?
Cant believe i've let it affect me so much, especially as i had decided that i was happy being single and getting on with my life.
Buffy - had a read back on ur driving lessons - same here havent taken my test yet and hate driving - i know one day i will have to face it.0 -
Wb Princess, Im sorry to hear you been played, but if he isnt meant, theres no point wishing it, at least you have your friends here with us who konw exactly how it feels to be played by the best.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Thanks MB, you're right - he isnt meant to be and i need to forget abt it all.
i just cant believe i fell for a player, i felt as if i was sorting out my life and knew where i was going. Its daft as i hardly know him but its made me question everything.0 -
Hi All,
been really busy this week and done a lot of thinking, going to a gig tomorrow night haven't seen this band for about 7 years so it's a chance to catch up with old friends, and decided hiking is my best stress relief so going to go hiking at least twice a month, anyone want to join me in the peaks just let me know.0 -
It's perfectly natural to be thinking about things when this stuff happens Princess, I am exactly the same
I think the minute we step out of the comfort zone that we have prepared for ourselves all mental hell breaks loose!
Being so far out of my comfort zone these last 3 weeks has had a very negative effect and I have not handled it at all well... going to chalk this all up to experience (something I haven't really allowed myself to have for some time!) and take each day as it comes
Going to semi sneak in on the diet scene with you wonderful people. Lost a bit with Slimming World so far (although currently following a GL plan lol) but have a lot more to go!
SarahB I think I am going to agree with the others about the contact thing, sometimes I think we need to say our bit else we are left forever with 'what ifs' - sometimes when we say them out loud/write them down that can be enough to actually move on :A
RosaB - might join you on Pilates or maybe Yoga, we have some classes close by I could join. I am due to start a 'back to work' training thing with NHS in October and I want to get a bit more toned before I launch myself back into the world  (wish I could come hiking with you eco, I love the outdoors but fear I would be wheezing and puffing about a mile behind you!)
Michelle - enjoy your holiday!!!!!
I feel I have missed some comments out, to anyone not mentioned .. big :grouphug:0
