Single and in debt.

  • Hooray! Just spoke to my friend and she was fine with me talking about it. She said that it's because she wasn't sure if it would last (you were right about that) and because she didn't want to rub my nose in it (again, you clever people knew this!)

We're good friends and understand each others weird personality traits. One of mine is my overreaction to things and one of hers is the need for more privacy than most people require.

Anyway, just a massive thanks to everyone who offered advice :T

Hi again! Wow, this thread has got long, has taken me ages to read and really got me thinking that there may be some hope out there.....after a few years in a bad relationship it does make you distrust men and think they are all the same.

Good luck to all those doing the solo drink.....but beware.......this is how I ended up married. Going back 15 years when I was still at uni went out on my own as was meeting mates later...tripped over a paving stone (not drunk, just clumsy lol), fell over and this bloke caught me. That was it for the last 15 years. Can't say it was all bad but post kids he was just too selfish, turned to drink and it went bad. Had 10 good years tho'.

For the record, I want to assure everyone that I am not looking for a "quickie". I agree there are blokes like that, but not all blokes. Id say there are 50% good and bad blokes and 50% good and bad women.

My X left me for a younger model, how can I compete against that??? But I wont assume any woman Im likely to meet, will do likewise.

I think the clue here is we are all singletons (well mostly) on this thread, so its a fair bet we have ALL been stung, tricked and dumped.

That we are all discussing the same issues leads me to believe that none of us in here are anything like the low lifes that ARE out there ;)

you are still totally not getting me!

The guy I dated for 2 weeks didnt involve anything like that, and he called it all off as he was still in love with his ex about 3 days after I started telling people about him ;)

Irony .. thats my point .. by no means I dont run my life with that way of thinking, its just light hearted how it turns out some times 'just' after you start letting everyone know you have a fab guy!

Agreed. Its hard tho to let go of the issues, I tried so hard with the last guy to show him that I wasn't like his ex wife but he couldn't get past the fact that I might do some thing horrible.

Equally tho it took me ages to trust him in the first place! I think we were both right for each other but at the wrong time?

I will try, especially after reading this thread to keep an open mind and not think all men are scum bags ;)
    Nevertheless she persisted.
