  • I did too PrincessPeach. My friend who is the same age as me (35) and single too just has an innate belief that ultimately, at some point, she will meet the right person and all will be well. I would love to have that self belief; I spend too much time fretting about it when if I had that belief I think I would just get on with living my life. Which would probably lead to me meeting someone and even if I didn't I would have led a great life.

Sorry, just read that back I know what I meant to say but not sure that it came across. Blame the heat and the fact that I'm half watching Criminal Minds!

i know what you mean... can't let not having a guy affect your life... why not join the challenge that was set earlier in the thread?

i have a back up for kids - a gay best mate..... i'm giving myself until 45 to met and settle down and if not then kids is good enough for me lol

Someone (I'm sorry, can't remember who) mentioned earlier in the thread that their parents think they just need to find someone who already owns a house - in a weird way I'm in the opposite position. I managed to buy my place last year, but I never tell any guys I meet - because my ex was someone who just wanted to take the benefits of having cheap digs, etc and I don't want to be used in that way again. It's wrong that I'm "embarassed" to admit I own my house I know because I work very hard to have it, but I if I do ever meet anyone I want them to like me for me, not my possessions (or debts lol).

I wonder if guys think like this too?
  • I am totally with you! (btw love Criminal Minds!) I still have the thing in th eback of my mind that you will meet Mr Right when you are not really looking .. bit easier to do that though when you are younger and in pups & clubs all the time! Not so easier sat at home

What? you mean that Dr Spencer Reed isn't on his way round here now to sweep me off my feet? (not literally; I don't think he could lift me!). Say it ain't so!!!!!!
  • I like Criminal minds.

think I might be missing it though should be sky plussed....hmmm.

I really believed there would be someone. I thought I had the someone at twice, maybe three times. the first two "relationships" lasted about 18 months the third 6 months.

I had a big phase when I didn't care that I am single, I do anything go anywere etc. and I do not seek a man, firmly believing that I will always be a lone, which is what I am used to and happy with. I liked dating when I was younger but wasn't that good at it. I am easily the one known amongest my friends as the one with men issues.

right now I am in a phase of sorting myself out, recovering from my last dating disaster(no 4 don't even class him as a relationship) and looking at my friends and their new families houses and lives and wondering if actually that is what I want. and I think it is.

Its pretty much get myself sorted money wise and dip my toe in the water of dating.

Its weird how you think these things out.
    Nevertheless she persisted.

I've just realised the time and I should have rinsed my hair dye off 10 mins ago - I have a suspiscion I'm going to be even less desirable to the opposite sex with green hair so I better go and deal with it :D
  • hhmm sounds like i'm missing something with criminal minds......

i think i'd rather get my own place over a guy at the moment.

I have a mate who's been seeing someone since the being of the year but before that she was on a number of dating sites, went speeddating, networking clubbing - you name it she'd tried it - i have to admire her for it - could never put myself out there time after time, only to be rejected so many times but she found a really great guy in the end

pmsl! That's the kind of thing that happens to me - I'm on a couple of sites and they keep matching me with a guy I know fairly well - who is about the least like my type as is possible :rotfl::rotfl:

Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes by the way - have a glass with me if you get chance in the next 24 hours

Edit: by the way, hair turned out OK luckily - saved myself ££££ not going to the salon anyway!!
