Re the, er, chap at the cinema... it's weird because it wasn't scary or anything, just annoying. It was the climax of the film! :rotfl:

OOh Sarah you stole my quote!! Ha ha - I was going to quote the same bit from Susu about the bookshelves and fancy library steps. I too am a complete book lover and read voraciously - although more recently have been lover of library books as don't have space for books. My real book collection is in my parents loft and can't wait for my own place to get it back.

I haven't heard of Sophie Hannah though but love rec's for new authors to try.

If you are looking at biography can I recommend Agatha Christies autobiography. I really love her books which is why I read it but even if you don't like her stuff, her life was really really interesting. (Single gal point here - her husband divorced her soon after her mother died and for quite a while she was single. However when she was well into her 40's (I think) she met and married a much younger archaeologist. Her classic quote about this is 'the best husband a woman can have is an archaeologist - the older she gets the more interested in her he is'

I go to the cinema on my own a lot. I love the cinema and when I was younger got fed up that my friends didn't want to see the same stuff as me so started going on my own. It is fun going with others for the discussions etc but I honestly don't mind it and have never felt like I was a freak or something. I used to work for a large arts centre and was always dropping in to see something after I'd finished my shift.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

I shall look for her next time I'm in the library (Sophie Hannah that is)

I have to be honest I'm not a football fan at all ..........

Seeing as quote thing not working have had to cut and paste:

'Hire car and go down Sounth' - Bowski

One of my others was to go to Lake District properly so we could kind of do a swap and wave as we pass on the motorway?!! (the Lake District is in Cumbria right??? My geography is shocking some times!!

Gals, I'm so sorry, but I'm going to have to log off & get to my kipster. I'm absolutely shattered. Shame cos I really wanted to get into the book chat thing  Another time, eh?

I'll pop on tomorrow when I get back from the comedy club, let you know how it went :p

For those of you with dates tomorrow, be fabulous and enjoy yourselves.

For those of you without dates tomorrow, relax - you don't have to worry about shaving your legs!

    Toodle pip you lovely lot

I prefer biographies to autobiographies mostly, they are [strike]better at dishing the dirt[/strike] more interesting. But I have read quite a bit about her, I used to love real life mystery stories when I was younger and her disappearance was always in them. Love that quote, if I'm still single at 40 it's going in my sig. (And I shall put on my 100 list "go on a dig":D ) Saw a good documentary on her a few years ago, her younger husband was v nice;)

P.S re book recommendations, I really have to recommend this one, It's called Gargoyles and it's a Richard and Judy book, read it when I was poorly and it made me cry, it was absolutely brilliant, was so upset when I finished it I started it again straight away. It's a medieval/modern day romance but that description doesn't do it justice, it's about lots of things, was really interesting and a brilliant story. I cannot recommend it enough. Went straight into my top 10.

Funnily enough, one of my ideal dates involves going to a football match, although as it's my ideal date it has to involve my ideal game: ManU beating Liverpool in the Champions League to win the treble!!! As much as I LOVED ManU beating Chelski in the Champions League last season, it would have been SO much sweeter had we beat Liverpool :rotfl:

Glad you're seeing your man tomorrow - thought you weren't going to see him till the end of the month

I just hate liverpool  Although I did go to the pre season friendly v Tranmere so I guess I will go watch them. Just not at Anfield! He's a scum fan though so I don't think I'll even mention that idea! lol

My date isn't till the end of the month but we're friends and we've already arranged for him to come round tomorrow and look at my dryer and then I'm taking him to my friends house and he's going to look at hers too. I don't think it's going to be awkward coz this date thing has been on the cards for a while it was just a matter of when I was going to let my barrier down ( I told him 5 years.... how rubbish am I at sticking to my word lol) What will be wierd tho is I told him I'm going to gut his kitchen coz it needs it, which when we were just friends would have been fine (in return he's changing my landing light which it too high and scary for me!) but if we're going on a date I don't want him to think I'm trying to put my mark on the place or anything. I just want to do it coz I love cleaning and well to be honest it bl00dy needs it.

Yes Makeup Cumbria is in the lakedistrict. Although you wouldn't be wanting to visit the area I live in! I'll definately give you a wave along the a590 though :hello: Where abouts are you from?

Sarahb... 30 pairs of unworn socks  I am soooo jealous! I don't know how you leave them unworn... I can't wait to get them on! At the mo I have cow print one's on..they're cool.. I think you'd love them lol I like stripy socks but don't have many of them. I did get 3 pairs for xmas though :D

I'm really looking forward to staying in a hotel on my own, I don't know where I'm going to go yet but DD is on a school trip in Feb for 3 nights so was going to go one of those nights. I love the thought of traveling on the train reading a book and then having a nice quiet night reading a book. It sounds odd i'm sure but I don't care! When I was telling my friend about the idea I was saying how I want to do it coz I never have a minutes peace at home and within about 10 mins of me telling him and him looking at me like I was crazy, I had a neighbour and then my auntie knock on the door, my mobile and house phone both rang and I was glad I was able to turn round to him and say...see what I mean
It's part of the reason why I like camping aswell. Also camping I can't take the laptop or watch TV so it's great.

I've been wanting to try meditating for a while since I visited a buddhist temple with DD on a school trip. It was very interesting and I'm not religious atall but that really did appeal to me. it's something I can see myself doing. I think the classes are about £4 though, thats the only downside but once i've mastered it i'll be able to do it on my own for nothing. You'll have to let us know when how you get on if you go. is it on list 1 or 2? hehe

i read a lot of chick lit, and if someone wants to read any of them they can have them,

That's very kind eco.. You're very brave! Do you not collect them? (to look all pretty and neat on a bookshelf?)

I love chris Manby and Jill Mansell , have you read any of their books? I've also recently read a couple by Dorothy Koomson I think it is and they're fab too. I've still got another of hers to read.

Sarahb.... Me and DD were talking yesterday about going to the library more often, There's one round the corner and we barely go. So... I'm going to put going to the library on my list and I'm going to try and get that book out or order it. Thankyou ! I can take when I go on my lonesome to some hotel ;)

Night SuSu... have fun tomorrow. Oh and Date or no date I shall NOT be shaving my legs. IT's going to be a proper date where I'm not allowed to go home with him, its a peck on the cheek and that it! I will certainly be shaving them next time I see him though :p

He He! It's on list 2 as it's something I want to try, but properly this time, have done it a few times but want to do it properly (my fave self help book recommends it:o ) I think it would be a good stress reliever as I have had to drastically cut back on wine so I can lose weight.

P.S the socks are mostly from Boots via their generous points scheme, am v sad, when I go in Boots I head to the socks first to see if they have any new ones:o :o:o

Yes, have read them, I must confess I do like a bit of chick lit sometimes:o

Definitely get if if you can Bowski, but be warned, the beginning is really quite gruesome, don't let it put you off!

Definitely don't shave those legs the first time! (2nd is ok though:D )

Yes I fancy it for the stress relief. I'm a laid back person when I've got a simple life but can be a total stress head when I have something to do or somewhere to go. Mainly due to me being very unorganised and ALWAYS late.

How you finding it so far cutting back on the wine? Are you cutting down drastically or just a bit?
My diet has gone to rat !!!!!! this week. Went back to the gym on Monday aswell and not been back since :( Was meant to go today but DD came home from school ill so didn't get chance. Will definately start again on Monday though. And really get into it. Only 2 months to go until Benidorm and I'd just LOVE to be a size 18 for that! I'm a 20 at the mo but I've come down from a 22/24 so an 18 would be amazing for me.

Our boots don't do socks :(
