Hi all,

I've just had someone I used to know contact me regarding my flat which is up for rent. He has an IVA, doesn't pay his bills on time and is considering going bankrupt. He wants to rent my flat from me informally i.e. no agent involved.

I may sound mean, but he is the one that always made sure he had a cigarette on arriving at the pub, so he didn't have to get the first round in.

Yeah, right! Another reason for being in debt - sponging friends!

Thanks Sarah!! I think I've got so used to being permanently single especially at Christmas that I don't expect anything different. I think if I did have a boyfriend I'd be worrying about him fitting in with my family, did they like him.... did he like them (would he laugh at my Dad's jokes.....) and all that kind of thing. I guess the best thing for you to focus on is that it goes really quickly - particularly so if you drink plenty of Sherry...and then there are the January sales to look forward to which are kind of DFW in a way??


Runmichellerun - the important question is.... did it come true?? Sadly my reading wasn't free - I didn't want to say how much as it wouldn't really be considered very DFW at all

PinkTwirl - at least you know now so you can be choosy about your tenants!

well thank god it's Friday, can't wait to go home, going out on our works !!!! up tonight, so if I'm not on over the weekend it's cos I drunk way too much, which will be likely the lads are a bad influence, and apparently we have to keep drinking till last man standing, I just hope I'm not the first one to hit the decks, so everyone keep your chins up and TDQO are you back in the UK yet?

Last Friday before Christmas is known back home in Sunderland as Black Eye Friday so happy Black Eye Friday everyone. Try not to get too drunk & end up in a fight :cool: having to wear dark glasses in winter just makes you look pretentious

Also finished for Christmas and found out I have an extra 2 days off as the office is closed for moves :j . Not out tonight so shouldn't acquire any black eyes from QI and biscuits... happy hangovers to those who will need it though

Thanks, you're the only person that has replied to any of my posts today. I said no. He hasn't contacted me for months, he only wanted it so that he could phone me up and spin me a sob story and pay his rent late. I told him where to go. He was happy enough as were the rest of them to leave me in every Saturday night. Of course, when I have something they want, then the contact starts.

I'm fed up with those sorts of people, that seem to be too common.

Grrr, cheeky get. Glad you said no.

I'm not sure whether acting like that really is generally common, or whether being a generally kind person seems to attract shameless spongers. I have given up on staying in touch with people who don't have the manners to make the effort in return, it means my Christmas card list is a bit smaller but I have more free time and less stress. I forget who said it but 'Don't give to takers, give to givers' will be on my new year resolutions.

I think the rest of them are probably acquiring/ suffering those Black Eye Hangovers
