  • Hi Rosa,

I decided the same thing. I stopped inviting people round for dinner and wine, stopped shouting them food and stopped calling them when I hadn't heard from them in a while. You'd be suprised just how many of those people are not in my life anymore because I never heard from then again.

    Hey Pink,

Well at least you realised what they were up to - it's a real shame you've had to go through that though and I really hope 2009 is the year you find some new genuine, supportive and fabulous friends to help you forget those others...

    Happy Christmas!
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)
  • Thanks :o

Moving away from where I was living was intending in part to cut people like this out of my life. Then they contact me looking to sponge when I'm 500 miles away, they really do have brass necks!

I'm just wondering where the decent people are? I've cut my friends down to 6 people and 3 family members. Anyway, I'm just a bit down at the moment as I went for a second interview for a job and didn't get it. Just a crap week.

Anyway, I'm glad I have them and that they pull their weight. :o

    Happy xmas!:rudolf::snow_laug :snow_laug :snow_laug :xmassmile :santa2: _party_ I love these icons! :D:o:p

Hey Pinktwirl, wish I did have something fun to report. Seem to be spending all sorts of odd time over the new house, over SC house and sometimes my house. I keep telling myself will all be better once I am settled into new place in a couple of months :)

btw has anyone heard from Sarah? I just noticed she hasn't posted for a while as I read back through the thread.

    Love & hugs to all!

Totally agree, I did something similar myself & there's only 1 mate left from my pre-debt days. Most of those people I thought were mates disappeared once they realised I couldn't lend them money, get extra rounds of drinks in etc.

I actually got more help from virtual strangers than from my supposed mates.

Not a new cocktail but I was handed a Southern Comfort, Cointreau & Lemonade at a party last night & it was very more-ish.
  • Hi Pink

:grouphug: for the job thing, they don't know what they're missing and anyway you'll be glad when the right one does turn up.

I'm sure there are decent people out there, it just takes a bit more effort to identify them. I went round the neighbours last night, I know them but not very well, and was glad I did since I got to know one better and also met their neighbours on the other side who are lovely. Dunno why I didn't do something months ago. I think the difficult thing is remembering that there are fab people out there after being disappointed or badly treated, and to remember to, well not so much keep your guard up, but remember where the lines are and not get suckered. I was quite upset recently when I realised that out of my 3 mates from school, one I no longer speak to deliberately (long story), and one is fading out of my life as she's basically entirely self-centered. The one remaining is a genuine find! But there are other fab people who've come into my life since and I've concluded that I would rather 'prune' friends who are just an energy drain to make room for new real friends.

SBC I like the sound of SoCo, Cointreau and lemonade...
Pink, can't think of many new cocktails but for some reason I really fancy one of the strawberry juice and champagne ones, is it a Rossini? Or we could have something more festive - mulled wine anyone? Oooh, mulled cider, even better!

Have to run out for last couple of pressies, back later...

Hi All, back in the land of the living, 2 of the lads nearly had a fight, but 1 of them said he held back cos i was there, told him he could have hit him for me, i didn't care, saying that cos we all work together we probably would have had to have an investigation into it at work, so wouldn't have been worth the effort, didn't get as drunk as i thought i would so once the headache had cleared i was ok, going to catch up on the posts and i'll be back later

Hi all, haven't posted for a while, haven't been having a weekend like Lula's unfortunately:D just been busy in the day and too lazy in the evening:o

Have been buying lots of stuff:mad: because the sales have been too difficult to resist, I decided that as I am going to be living off 4k and trying to pay off/save 20k next year I'd better get some spending done now.:o Have been using codes/vouchers and Quidco, so not as bad as it could have been. Am feeling a bit sick today though because I didn't need those things, I just wanted them.:o Hopefully that's it now though, not much time to get more spending in by 2009. (might have to investigate Boxing Day sales though).

Ossireo, at your ex's house! Must have been horrible for you, hope you are nearly sorted now. Re the job, something better will be just around the corner for you, I think 2009 will be your year, with your new house and your new man, a job is bound to follow to top off your good luck.

Rosa, I am a couple of pressies short too! How do we leave it this late?! I shall have to go shopping tomorrow, I know what I'm getting though, so will just rush in and out and cover my eyes near the clothes.

Hope everyone is well, back later xxx
