It matters not what you have gained, we are all born naked and will leave the same way, its relevant if you have offspring that you can leave it to, which is my original point about self worth, What good is having a faster car, bigger house, wider telly, if you have nobody to share it with. Wealth is only as good as the purpose it serves.

That makes perfect sense - maybe you can find other ways of treating yourself. I don't mean in the sense of spending money, necessarily, but ways of treating yourself well. A lovely long hot bath always works for me (-:

Very true. It can be a short lived buzz buying something but as Marleyboy says, it's not important in the grander scheme of things. Nor as good as the 'simpler' things in life.

All I want is a purpose in life, someone to share it with, I want to love and be loved, trust and be trusted, I want to want and be wanted, is that so wrong???

I took a walk in the Park today, nestled in the sun for an hour, it cost me nothing, but its rewards far justified anything i would have to pay for, to gain such moments ;)

Nothing at all wrong with that, but I think you need to separate them. Personally, I think you should be "you" and have purpose and ambition (I don't necessarily mean work-related ambition) independently of a relationship. Otherwise, a relationship has to bear too much weight.

I suppose I reckon that a good relationship is the coming together of two people who have already got purpose in their lives, and the sum of the two is greater than the parts.

I think the latter part is your purpose. Just a case of getting out there and doing it! ;)

This is true, and I do have lots of expensive bath products I can use! I can lose myself in a book for hours, so tend to treat myself to books and do that when I am feeling down.

I know the book problem well! I think I might keep Amazon in business....

I'm making serious efforts to use the library more, though.

Very intelligent words ;) why cant I find someone who shares those ideals, I guess my purpose in life is at a low ebb, as in I dont know what it is anymore. Ive always had a purpose, and solely that was to provide for my family. Now I am merely working, to take my mind off the idea of going back to my flat alone and on purpose.
