I also get 'go to the pub when there is a big rugby/football game on...it will be full of men'
A great idea....
Hahahahaha! Yeah, cos the guys there will be totally looking at the girls, not at the big screen...0 -

I went one better - I work for a rugby club and go to all games, home and away (though I will be doing less of the latter now though now the need to balance the books has kicked in!)
I meet lots and lots of very hunky men - sadly most are young enough to be my kids, so believe me even the real thing doesn't always work! :rotfl:0 -
Very intelligent words
why cant I find someone who shares those ideals, I guess my purpose in life is at a low ebb, as in I dont know what it is anymore. Ive always had a purpose, and solely that was to provide for my family. Now I am merely working, to take my mind off the idea of going back to my flat alone and on purpose.
I can't help but thinkthat it's a good idea to develop other purposes in life. Otherwise, if family and relationship are all, then that does put all the pressure on the relationship to make you happy.
If you aren't that keen on your job - what would you like to do? What would be you ideal job or jobs?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I completely agree with you - it's far more healthily to do things you both enjoy together, and other things apart, and not be joined at the hip....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
morning all
neverdispairgirl - i agree - "I can't help but thinkthat it's a good idea to develop other purposes in life. Otherwise, if family and relationship are all, then that does put all the pressure on the relationship to make you happy."
For a little while i have been trying to do things for myself and just seeing friends - went though a phase of the whole dating scene and hated it. - i'd rather be single and happy and doing things for myself then having to put myself though that!0 -
Good lord you lot have been busy!
I have read most of it I think, but too hungry(Cereal is not FILLING) to write back properly, I am lucky that although I don't like the school i work in I do like my job and I am studying (honestly I am) and mostly see a lot of my friends - its been rough lately tho with the no money no time thing.
I just wanted to pledge that having deleted a guy's phone number from my phone I now from today will NOT get in touch with him. no way. and when (this is the important bit) he gets in touch with me I WILL ignore him.
right I will be back later, must write an introduction

Hi - I'm getting nervous just thinking about writing this, how silly. Anyway, I just wanted to say how much comfort I got from reading this thread and would love to join but, and this is the biggie, I'm not in debt so I don't think I truly belong. I wander round the MSE forums a bit but always seem to end up on DFW as it is so supportive and uplifting. So that's my big secret. I meet the Single (in both the financial and romantic sence) criteria just not the debt bit. But even if it's a "no" to joining in I just wanted to say that you all sound great and thanks for writing as your comments have made me feel a bit less of a 35 year old, never been married, never lived with anyone, no kids, overweight freak!0

Hi Sarah, great idea for a thread. I'm another singleton, 35 with two young kids. Single by choice at the moment - and in debt................Before getting married I had a decent job (which I gave up to have kids) and my own house (which I sold to buy a house in joint names, could I be so stupid, I paid 83% deposit he put down nothing!). Anyway, now I have kicked the lying git out he wants the house and has left me with 6k of debt................................great eh....Things can only get better I guess, the single life is sounding so much simpler, emotional ties aside. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
