  • Oh no. Had a rubbish day!! Set off this morning smiling because of the lovely weather, had lunch with my final single friend and... she tells me she's been seeing someone for a few weeks and it's going really well.

So that's it. I'm the last one. Single, alone and p***ed off

Hey everyone, you've all been posting lots! Good to see lots of new faces too :)

I spent yesterday evening with my friends and their little one, so I am home alone enjoying the peace and quiet :D well I was until another mate called me to moan about her hubby anyway! See, singledom isn't so bad after all lol!

Just saw this thread, not had tmie to read it all yet but will do later, but can I join the gang? Please. I'm single still living at home with my folks and I was 30 on Friday - Yikes! I've over £30k in debt and slowly chipping it away myself. I think we'll both those folk who have a second life in the 30s-40s! Well I hope! All my friends are married with fancy houses and have written me off as having left it too late!

Hi - I'm getting nervous just thinking about writing this, how silly. Anyway, I just wanted to say how much comfort I got from reading this thread and would love to join but, and this is the biggie, I'm not in debt so I don't think I truly belong. I wander round the MSE forums a bit but always seem to end up on DFW as it is so supportive and uplifting. So that's my big secret. I meet the Single (in both the financial and romantic sence) criteria just not the debt bit. But even if it's a "no" to joining in I just wanted to say that you all sound great and thanks for writing as your comments have made me feel a bit less of a 35 year old, never been married, never lived with anyone, no kids, overweight freak!

Of course you can join, everyone is welcome! You know all about the doing things on one salary part, and the being single part, I have never married (yet!) never lived with anyone either (yet!) or had children (yet!) and lots of us are struggling with other things such as losing weight as well. I am so glad you got comfort from reading the thread, so have I, so welcome, and hopefully you will have lots of tips on how to be debt free!

Lots of single friends here! I hate it when that happens though, hope you're feeling better. As skint spice says, if she can do it so can you!

Hi Sarah, great idea for a thread. I'm another singleton, 35 with two young kids. Single by choice at the moment - and in debt................Before getting married I had a decent job (which I gave up to have kids) and my own house (which I sold to buy a house in joint names, could I be so stupid, I paid 83% deposit he put down nothing!). Anyway, now I have kicked the lying git out he wants the house and has left me with 6k of debt................................great eh....Things can only get better I guess, the single life is sounding so much simpler, emotional ties aside.

Hi rachel and welcome, you are right, the single life can be simpler at times, there is lots of support here, things can and will get better, hope you're ok x

Hobbin Rood - the same to you! You're doing your place up - so are a lot of people! Anybody worth your time will understand that. Be matter of fact and unembarassed about it and so will other people.

Hobben Rood - you too are wonderful and special. Stuff the state of the flat. I it bothers you just pile some (empty) paint cans & other assorted decorating materials around the place. Perfect cover. Never quite enough time lol. I got away with it for years!

Thanks ladies, and good advice. Liking the paint cans idea Rugbymum. Might just try that. Hello to all the other new posters too.

On the dating front, looks like there's a useful thread here:

Don't get me wrong, I'm not in a hurry to meet someone myself, it's just nice to have someone to wait with...
