Single and in debt.

Thanks SBC - I did actually know it was the tracking
& it did make funny noises when going round the corner - that was the wheel bearing going going gone, quoted £150 for repair but oh what a surprise then I 'needed' a new drive shaft & clutch oil or something, total cost £230  .
Yep, that's the downside of mechanical devices. If you keep using them when they're broke it causes damage to other bits as well0 -
Hi,
I thought I'd post here as I am single, 31 and in tons of debt, I hope that qualifies me
I ran up a silly amount of debt. I moved aoubt 100 miles 5 years ago to move in with my ex. After an abusive relationship, 3 years later we split up. By this point I had got from £20K debt down to £4k. Then I moved out and into rented accommodation and bought a flat.
Then I managed to rack up £24K of debt in 2 years. I didn't (and couldn't) make any friends whilst I was with him - all I did was go between work and home and when I was on my own I found myself really lonely and went spending at weekends or after work because I couldn't bear to go home to an empty flat.
Now I'm kicking myself because I've got so much debt. Feel like I'm back to square one really

Hi PinkTwirl and welcome:wave: There are lots of us here in the same situation, so you are in the right place for lots of support. You may have noticed we are currently discussing cars and brown shoes, don't let that put you off, we talk about other things too.:D
Just noticed your sig:
No more clothes or shoes or anything from The Pier!

Grr, Garage can't fit me in till Monday so will have to take the day off! It needs sorting though so will have to do it.
On the plus side I stopped off at the shops on the way home, saw a lovely pink and purple scarf for £12 and I do need a new one as last year's are a bit tatty now, went to the till and it went through at £6.50, so very happy with that. Would have been a no spend day other than that:o .Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Hi everyone :hello:
I'm new to this thread, but not the forums. Anyway, as you can see from my sig, I'm in debt (but am attacking it ferociously) and I'm single.
Funnily enough, I think being single and in debt is easier for me as I means I can budget without having to factor in going on dates or anything. Just as well, really, as I hate going on dates - they're so stressful! :rotfl:£27k (excluding interest) paid off in 29 months
Finally debt free!0 -

Now you sound like my dad  & I'm not completely dumb - only drove car 3 times with odd noise before taking it to garage
- they ripped me off because I'm a girl  & they wouldnt give a discount for cash & he had a monobrow *seriously considers shaving hair off, buying dungarees & enrolling on a mechanics course, but only for a fleeting moment
*
Can we now ban talk of cars until monday please ?
Good news on fabby sounding scarf Sarah :j I wish I could say I needed a new one but as I have a pink one, purple one & a black one
that would be lying, hmmmm I dont have a turquoise one though .... would it be cheating to purchase fabby cashmere one from M & S on the assumption that Granny will give me tokens as usual for christmas
Hello Pink Twirl, sounds like you are perfectly qualified to join in
sounds like you've had a horrid time so have a big :grouphug: & dont worry, you're among friends now

It's good to find these boards, I guess I'm not the only one to have ever shopped out of boredom. The lonliness of not having anything much to do evenings or weekends has driven my debt since I moved out of my ex's house. I need some motivation to not go into The Pier so I do not buy any more patterned wine glasses!
Didn't help that the few "friends" I seemed to make after my split used to push me to the bar on nights out. Funnily enough I don't hear from them anymore. Well, I've moved away now so probably not good to be in touch with them.
One of the used to stop at the doorstep of the pub and say he was just going to have a quick cigarette and join us and, oh, by the way, mine is a double Johnny Walker's and coke! Flaming cheek!
I was reading a bit about the car discussion, my car is making some strange noises, a creaking noise and the steering is wandering whenever I put my foot on or take it off the brake pedal.
Brown shoes - don't have any, but have brown boots

Hello SuSu,
I think I agree with you about being able to deal with debt more effectively alone - baked beans on toast perfectly acceptable for one - although vile - but definitely not a romantic meal for 2  . I'm in leafy surrey too - damn expensive isnt it

Bad dates - not good! Been there and resolved never to go on a date unless I liked them to begin with. Still waiting! :rolleyes:0 -

Hey, thanks yes it's been a horrendous time, I've often wondering what the hell I've been doing to inflict it on myself, then I'd go out and buy a top from Monsoon or a dress from Coast, etc, etc, etc to make myself feel better. £100 ends up £10,000 somehow. If only I had a dazzling wardrobe to show for it, maybe the moths have eaten them all :rotfl:
Thanks for the welcome
