Insider 66, I sometimes think that about my exes, maybe if I'd just done...put up with... but life's too short isn't it? or am I just too intolerant?

oh dear, nothing like that luckily. most of them I think I just rushed in a little too quickly and ended up realising we'd nothing in common after all, last ex was a manipulative liar and functioning alcoholic (I think).

Hi guys, sorry not been around for a bit. What a sh* life is .. i can not understand why i struggle to find someone decent and keep them. Like sarah its hard to know why/how ... im feeling really fed up now! He said that i was "too much" lol .. so after saying how he needed lots of affection im struggling to see how... Oh well.. his loss... but mine too!

Off to the gym and hope to catch you guys on here later... god knows i could do with some cheering up.. but seems as though we are all dumpy at the mo. x

  • Hi Bathgatebuyer .. welcome to the thread. I understand completely when you say about not trusting a man enough to have children with them, unfortunatly I learnt the hard way  You sound happy enough on your own, good on ya

I learnt the hard way myself - my parents divorced when I was about 3 after my Dad cheated on my Mum with another woman. He made contact again when I was about 12 when I saw him twice and he vaguely showed interest in me. 3rd time he was due to visit, he just never showed. He'd made promises about a day out which was planned for a month or so before hand and just never turned up. Never even phoned or anything. That was the last saw of him for about 16 years.

I don't know whether this has filtered through to to people I meet who probably think of me as being quite cold which I'm certainly not. Indeed, someone at work recently said to me, "You're hardly a romantic" and that actually really hurt me. I'm not a hearts and flowers girl - I never wanted to be a little fairy Princess and to this day - and I think sometimes people think that because I'm not your stereotypical 'girl' that it means that I don't want to fall in love. I do, but it will be with the right man, not someone who is interested in me because he thinks I'll be grateful or whatever, but someone who can act in a way that I've never known any man to act which is with dignity, respect, courtesy, kindness, honesty - basically all the thing I expect of friends too. Anything less than that, and I think I'm quite to stay on my own.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
