I also read my diaries today whilst I was clearing out, I am in such a rut I could have photocopied my diary !
Buffy, I used to keep a diary, but I realised I was writing the same stuff each day, made me laugh about the photocopying!
Re the self help books, I found one last weekend whilst rummaging that I hadn't really looked at, I have decided to follow this one for a month and see if it works. Luckily it doesn't require me to do any silly tasks of the "pay 3 people a compliment today" variety, it's more of a "change the way you look at things" one. So glad I have a fellow self helper! Would be too embarrassed to admit it otherwise!Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Exactly. It shouldn't be true, but unfortunately it is. It's like when people say, "just be yourself," I know what they mean but I want to be the best version of myself I can possibly be. When I look good I feel good, and I do think that is important in attracting the right one. So I am stuck in the "I need to lose weight, I need my clothes to fit, then I will feel better and more confident, then the right one will come along, ooh those cakes look nice, I need to lose weight..." cycle. I know what I need to do and how, but I just seem to keep sabotaging myself.
If this is any help Sarah, I had my first day school with the OU at the weekend & the most attractive woman there was much closer to Dawn French than Kate Moss in shape. I think the trick is finding a way to be happy with whatever your shape is.0 -
Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around or posted much lately, I think I might have bitten off more than I can chew by taking 2 OU courses at the same time.
My time doesn't seem to be my own any more & someone seems to have stolen a couple of weeks from me
.SBC - your trip sounds amazing, I'm slightly green with envy, used to do a bit of sailing & nothing compares to being on the ocean yo ho ho
Thanks Lula, it was quite an experience. Especially the return leg from the Netherlands back across the North Sea where we weren't racing any more so I could appreciate it a bit more. Sailing up between all the Oil Rigs with them all lit up through the night was quite a sight as well. Oh & congrats on the car as well>
Sarah/Buffy - I haven't ever bought any relationship books but I did at one of my post-accident lowest points buy a complete set of Tony Robins "Get the Edge" CD's. I'd completely forgotten about them until I read your posts on self help books. As the resident experts
do you reckon it's worth breaking the sellophane or should I just chuck them on ebay?Buffythedebtslayer wrote: »French women don't get fat, the rules, another career book, books on how to sleep ( er well I could try reading!!) book on how to make money outside of your job, organising books
 Oh Dear, I heard its original working title was "How to stay single by making men hate you" but the publishers changed it because they couldn't make it sell
.I so agree with this, I am very independent, love my own space, I am happy in my own company and I hate being told what to do. I am very stubborn and I think I may have become too set in my ways.
You just described me.DebtFreeDan wrote: »heeeeeeyyy!!! Men are getting a bad name in this thread!!! We aren't ALL bad you know!!!

Hey, another bloke. Welcome to the thread mate. Ignore the misandry, at least you can more or less keep track of those conversations, it's scarier when they start on their footwear, bag or cosmetic hoarding conversations.

That's a surprise! The 2 exes whove been pushy with me on the marriage front I ended the relationship because of it. The 2 exes I wanted to marry dumped me.Bowski_1011 wrote: »DebtFreeDan...you can stop imagining now that no womans going to be intersted in you because you're in a bit of a mess.Thats like saying no bloke would be interested in me because I'm not a busty blonde! I know women go on about wanting a rich man but it not true,
I think I know that consciously, but when you hear something enough (& I've heard it from women a LOT in the last few years) I have to wonder if there isn't at least something in it.
For those who think that blokes are put off by independent women, those are insecure blokes so would you really want one of them?
I would love to meet an independent woman instead of the ones I usually meet who just seem to expect me to replace their dads as the provider of their home &/or money0 -
Hey Sundy & welcome back, we missed you

By the way ; if it's independent women you're looking for, think you might be in the right place  & we promise to give the handbags/shoes/cosmetics talk a tone down if you promise to pop in more often with your insider knowledge of the male species

2 OU courses at the same time    good luck matey

Oh the shame, I have one of his books too!:o I wonder if there are any books I don't have.
I didn't finish it as it wasn't really me, I'm not the type of person to randomly punch the air shouting, "take action.":D However, all the reviews I have seen of his workshops, which I think your box set comes from, seem to be very positive. I was actually going to buy it if I enjoyed the book. Maybe you could try it and report back? Apparently he teaches people to walk over hot coals, so you could practice in your FMBs.:D
I'm sure it would still sell without the wrapper and who knows, it might change your life.

2 Months ago I had a reasonably understanding boss as bosses go who was going to let me use some of the quieter times at work to crack on with the coursework so 2 modules seemed do-able. Now that boss has gone, as has over ½ the team so no more quieter times & the coursework has to be done in my own time.
Still, if I can just find a way of sticking it out for 6 more months I'll have a Certificate in Business Studies

Will that make you rich? As you know, we are only interested in the rich ones.
