  • The only person I know who might be looking is someone I really fancy and I'm not sure it would be a good move... anybody got any thoughts on that one?

How about it's better to regret the things you've done then regret not doing them?

    Hi all

Good to hear from everybody, congrats RMR on the run and glad to have found others who love bag pockets... I have got a Trolley Dolly on my Christmas wish list as I am an incurable hippy as well as a bag / luggage fan, they even have a website video so you can watch what goes in what pockets... :o:D

..... oh so oh so absolutely!

Sounds like last Friday was pretty rubbish all round then, I was also in once I finally got home from college freezing cold and v grumpy. Though did get out on the Saturday for a friend's hen night... not sure how I was the one who ended up on the "performer's" lap in the group photo! :D

Have been in GRRRR mode ever since though as my flatmate has announced he's moving out (unavoidable situation for him, but really messes up my plans). Am hoping for grace period from landlord before having to find someone else, as I really don't want to share with someone I don't get on with... but it will still mean double bills even then. And am so cross with myself because if I wasn't paying debts then I could afford to rent the place by myself  . Must try to look on bright side that know better now and may find fabulous flatmate. (The only person I know who might be looking is someone I really fancy and I'm not sure it would be a good move... anybody got any thoughts on that one?)

I think we should all plan fabulous Friday nights now to look forward to, either arranging to go out or staying in doing something we love (more wine, raid Muji for little things to go in bag pockets... ;) )

    RB xx

Watched the Trolley Dolly video:o :D I want the pink one! But they seem to be for highly organised people, and I would never remember to take it with me, and I would lose all the little bags. :o

Re the flatmate, you will always wonder how it would have turned out if you didn't give it a go, just do it and see what happens! It might turn out to be the best move you've ever made. I agree with SBC, don't waste time regretting something you didn't do. Is he the flatmate's fabulous friend you mentioned? If so, you should definitely go for it:D

Hi all, today I decided to tidy up my room, and as I have lots of things lying around I just concentrated on one small part, the chest of drawers and the bags around it that need sorting out. This led me to discover that I have over 150 unopened shampoos, conditioners, treatments, lipsticks, moisturisers, mascaras, eyeshadows, soaps, shower gels, etc     That's not even including the opened ones. Also found 6 bottles of perfume, must be about £200 worth!

I am absolutely horrified, I knew I had some things lying around, but not that much:eek:    Easily enough to keep me going for a year. I am in shock. I am hugely ashamed of myself. I should save a huge amount as I won't be buying any toiletries again for a very long time, but that's not the point. Had a horrible sinking feeling all day. How did I allow this to happen? I had no idea I had that much. I have filled 2 whole drawers with it. One person does not need that much stuff. Am actually quite alarmed. This is why I don't have a house.

Well, am recovering from the toiletries shock, it might be a good thing actually, I should be able to manage for a year without having to buy anything except toothpaste and hairspay, and it has given me a kick up the a**e. Might even be able to do the "Live on 4k for a year challenge" as I will only need petrol, books and food, am sitting on a stockpile of everything else I could ever possibly need. Might challenge myself to only use the toiletries I already have for a year. Won't be a hardship as I have lots of lovely things to choose from. :o And I'm still paying for them:mad:

Have challenged myself to 5 NSDs in November, to test the water. Would be brilliant if I clould get to be good at them as a lot of my money is just frittered away, then my purse is empty and I have nothing to show for it. I actually forgot it was November today, so I have been spending but nothing huge. I had a coupon for a free book, so I got 2 lovely books I really wanted for £8, plus I had my hair cut which I really needed, last one was 4 months ago and £100:eek: , only spent £30 today. The hairdressers is 5 mins away so no petrol or bus fares. And for the first time in my life the hairdresser actually listened to me and my hair actually looks like the picture I took with me. :j If I hadn't been trying to save money I wouldn't even have tried that particular hairdressers, am used to thinking expensive salons means better cut, now I know better. Sometimes expensive just means expensive. :o Am so happy to have found that little place and definitely going there again. Got my lottery ticket and a newspaper and that's it. Would have been under £10 if not for haircut, so I'm quite happy with that. Shouldn't need anything tomorrow except petrol but I'm not counting that.

    Hope everyone is ok xxx

wow Sarah that is a lot of toiletries! but like you said now you don't need to buy any for ages, so don't beat yourself up over it.

You've inspired me to try the hairdressers at the end of my road, doesn't look much but I'll make an appointment for next week and give it a go - nothing ventured nothing gained.

  • Re. the toiletries hoard :rotfl: ... it's amazing the amount of stuff that somehow hides! When I moved house I found I had THREE big boxes of vases and candle holders  - for my one room in a shared house!... most of them resulted from a bad day at the office and walking home via Asda's homewares department! At least you're stocked up now :D . Between MSE and FlyLady I am definitely decluttering and people have started to tell me how organised I am which is a bit scary really!

You're right SBC... I should probably have that tattooed somewhere visible. I shall suggest it as soon as current flatmate confirms he's given his notice.

Hope everyone is having a fab weekend

Well you have to :D or you'd  !

I do think it would do me good to set it as a challenge for myself in 2009, no toiletries for a year. I certainly don't need any, I'm sure that even my "but it's a bargain" thinking couldn't justify any more purchases in that area. Any time I am tempted I can just think about the 2 stuffed drawers in my bedroom. So, cheap haircuts and no toiletries for a year, should save a fortune! Is it bad that I am thinking of looking for any good bargains on toothpaste and hairspray, which I am low on, before the end of the year, so I won't have to buy a single thing in 2009?:o Spending money to save money is partly what has got me in this mess.
