Single and in debt.

Hi everyone,
hope you all had a good week end of one sort or another.
Sarah - I think it's great that you have all those toiletries if you want to do the £4000 challenge. I certainly hoard them & always by when on offer, I get quite panicky when we only have 3 spare bottles of shampoo or tubes of toothpaste in stock. Offers also make me try other brands that I usually wouldnt too so it's opening up new experiences for me * tries to look on the positive side of being skint * .
I worked out the figures for the £ 4,000 challenge & I just couldnt work out how I'd do it although I read a brilliant post by Jacks where she told the OP that they had a certain amount of fixed expenditure each month & that how they spent the rest was down to them; so true & it's completely changed my view of my budget. I've shaved £15 off my food shopping over the past 2 weeks, not out of necessity as such, but just so I can maintain the CC repayment I've set myself.
Nice to hear from you bowski & great news about the HB too. I really miss buying fabby clothes for DD, & got quite excited when she saw some stuff she said she'd like as a christmas present. Not once since she started school have I managed to get her to wear tights in winter so she's always had trousers... but show the girl a pair of black & silver sparkly ones that go with shorts & suddenly she's desperate to wear a pair  .
I have high hopes for the weight loss this week but am acutally more concerned about inch loss which is the key to getting back into my clothes, pehaps we could add an inch / centimetre loss target to the list ? I'm off to measure up now

Well im in a similar situation to the OP single and in debt.
I guess it harder to do it alone but it also kind means your the only one to blame for been in the debt you are in some cases.
I do find it hard not been able to share my problems but i've always found this site a pretty good source of support for meOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 0650 -
Hi slayerx,
Welcome to the threadYou're so right, there's always a wealth of support about here. Sometimes it really sucks being in debt & single but...it does mean we can come on here in the middle of the night & if I want to take my calculator & budget to bed with me then no one complains

Hello everyone :hello:
Still lurking around, somehow lost 4lb last week, no idea howand subsequently have had a week of eating anything that stays still long enough in my house
Other then that, not a whole lot of news here, going away next weekend which I am really looking forward to.
Very jealous of the toiletries stash you have there Sarah, I should sneak over for a rummage0 -
Hi Osserio, for Health and Safety reasons I can't allow you to have a rummage, between the books and the toiletries one false move could see you horribly crushed. I have had a proper count today, the correct amount of unopened toiletries and make up is exactly 200:eek:   around half of which is make up, a lot of which are mini sizes which come free:rolleyes: with a purchase, the rest is shampoo, moisturiser etc.
I have not counted the stuff in my wardrobe yet.
Well done with the weighloss, you are doing brilliantly:j :j :jPay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Evening my fellow singletons  ,
I've just caught up on the news & I'm now feeling like a wuss for not doing the £4,000 challenge. Will have to read the thread again & see if i missed something as my outgoings are way above the allowance even discounting rent, council tax & water bill
.
I'm also very envious of the toiletries stash but then when i think about it I do actually operate 3 make up bags simultaneously so probably have plenty of my own, just not unopened so no use for gifts  .
Ossireo - fantastic result on the weight loss, well done * sinks further into shame & resolves to try harder *

Hi Everyone,
I'm back from Wales, it was fantastic, my first holiday I booked and planned, so I've decided to save up and do something similar again next year any suggestions.
I've also started decorating my stairs and hallway to stop me going out spending, it's only been 2 years in the planning, so hopefully I'll have it done by Christmas, my brothers is a painter and he's taken pity on me and says he'll give me a hand, and he's also supplying some materials so it shouldn't cost too much.
I'm off to catch up on what you've all been up to now,
See ya.0 -

Welcome back eco
& what we all want to know is ... was there any mountaineering ruggedness type stuff to be seen ?
glad you had a good time & well done you for getting on with decorating. I actually have enough paint & stuff to redecorate the entire flat( sarah & buffy collect face paint etc & I collect home paint etc
) but as yet havent found the enthusiasm to actually get on with it. I suggest that for your next hol you come to lovely  surrey & do some downs walking by day & decorating my place by night :rotfl:
Hello & welcome ukbabe08,
dont worry sweetie, you are no longer alonethere's loads of us in the same situation
& at least if you're only 20 you have plenty of time to put it all right again, most of us are a bit past 20 (or 30
) so we really have no excuse for being in debt. Have a good wander through all the boards, there are loads of tips on money saving in many different ways. If you havent already done your Statement Of Affairs then how about a nice cup of [STRIKE]baileys[/STRIKE]tea & work it all out. If you then post that on the DFW forum then some clever sod will show you how to get those costs down, if you've already done this I apologise. Anyway nice to have you on board.
Will probably be back later
