I did not think "ooh, self help books!"
I am not sat on the bed with my favourite "how to improve every aspect of your life really quickly" one.
I am not looking through it now.

  • I have barred myself from buying new copies of relationship books. Of course I should just not read them at all because all they really do is give me a whole new bunch of nonsense to worry about and distract me from going out with mates, which would actually be the most effective way to meet someone... but you just never know... so I allow myself to buy them from charity shops on the theory that it's been donated by someone who has now found a fabulous relationship and no longer needs it! :D:o:confused: :rotfl: !

SarahB, I like the idea of a house-fetching monster. Think mine will need a bit more training, but it's good that he has behaved well today. (Might also have to give him a name - hm, is it even a him? Should probably be a her!) Turns out all I need to be happy is a sofa, warm blanket, tea, biscuits and Fraggle Rock on DVD to giggle at :o:D . Of course a shoulder to snuggle on in the process would be a bonus , I am considering adding this to my internet dating profile  . "Overeducated incurable hippy seeks tolerant male for Fraggle watching, nagging me into outdoors stuff, and economising on heating ;) ." That should sort the men from the boys :rotfl: :rotfl:

Here's hoping Monday morning goes well for everybody!

  • I'm really touched to read this thread. I'm 31, single, in some debt but really I struggle with a mental disorder and though I'm in recovery from it, coping with every day finance has been and is a struggle for me.

This community is really very special indeed and we're all lucky to have it.

Hiya JoannaKay, your right it is like a community, I think my spending as been improved since I started using this site more, it keeps you focused, for the first time in a long time i have money in my current account and I get paid in 2 weeks time normally i would have very little to spend and wonder where the hell it had gone. Any mental disorder is hard to deal with i was once off work for 12 weeks with stress, I always thought I was strong and could deal with anything, but looking back it has helped I don't get hung up on the little things anymore, and cope a lot better, so take it one step at a time and you'll get there.

Hey everyone & welcome JoannaKay :D

I've not read any relationship books .... but maybe it's about time  I generally get involved with guys I'm attracted to physically, but they invariably have some major flaw which I overlook for far too long because of the physical attraction until said flaw becomes too annoying/expensive/ tedious & then I spend about another 3 - 6 months see sawing between ending it & not having anything better to do / fear of being alone forever :o.

Hmmm, good job I'm just concentrating on debt clearing & weight loss I think; still thinking about the £4,000 challenge & feeling more positive but I want to wait until I've got a new car so I can factor in those costs too.

Bowski, glad you're ok & no Brandon :heartpuls didnt have the moustache :D.

Early bath for me tonight, so be good everyone :p

Ooooh sorry, have I committed a sin ? It's just never occurred to me before, do I read while in-between partners, in the dying stages of a relationship or roll over & start reading after the first 'moment' ;)
