Hello everyone,
sorry i havent been on for a while, not doing anything more exciting than trawling through car traders website
spent the whole day friday out looking for cars with dad, it was exhausting & I was incapable of coherent conversation in the evening but rest assured, I spent it in & alone:rolleyes:
sarahb - the main key to having a NSD is to not have any money to spend, works fine for me as long as I dont allow myself to carry credit / debit / cashopoint cards with me. It does involve a bit of forward planning which has taken a while to get used to. I recommend that you approach it on a weekly basis & start off with 2 NSDs a week & see how it goes. Oh, & yes internet shopping DOES count as spending.
I havent seen anyone I even remotely fancy for ages & am seriously contemplating gathering up supplies & hibernating for 6 months.
I'm so tired & boring I have to go to bed now
G'nite all

He he, my bag I ordered over the internet arrived today, it's lovely, I am playing with it now.:D But you are right, I must stop the internet shopping, so I will for now unless I see any bargains which will make good Christmas presents, am using my Quidco money this year so Christmas should be free. I tried to have an NSD today but unfortunately needed washing up liquid so had to spend some money, on the plus side I got 4 £2 coins in my change:j I don't post on the £2 thread but I do collect them, so was very happy with that. I probably won't spend any more today, so it wasn't a bad first go. I will try for 5 next month I think, not quite up to your standard yet! You are right about the forward planning, I could have avoided it, will have to plan my next shopping trip more carefully.
As for not seeing anyone you remotely fancy for ages, I only met one person I really liked in the last couple of years, and you can tell how that worked out from the title of this thread. Gathering up supplies and hibernating sounds very tempting. I think that although I used to see a man as the end of all my troubles, I really can't be bothered with it anymore. Makes me feel:mad: to think about it. Am just too tired/busy at the moment to do anything, even the thought of putting any effort into trying to meet someone, dating, having to make an effort etc etc etc just wears me out. For the first time in years I don't even want to meet a man now, despite spending weekends in by myself, not sure if I am giving up through being sick of thinking about it or have just had an epiphany. I am sure if a nice one presented himself I would hardly say no, but the search has been called off for the moment. What a relief. Just have too much to think about at the moment. Am better off concentrating on weight loss, fitting into my clothes, NSDs and playing with my new bag for now I think.
PS Lula don't worry about the weight gain, we only count losses and I have put mine back on too. :shhh: But I have been sensible today, and we will get there, am going to try really hard for the next 2 weeks, hoping for 4-5lbs, then I can stop and just maintain it for a bit, or carry on. I can only manage baby steps and small targets or I get overwhelmed and give up. Have exchanged obsessing about men for the holy grail of being able to fit in my own clothes. Don't want them to be old fashioned by the time I get there.
Good luck with the car buying, I really hate doing that, at least when it's done you won't have do it again for a few years.

Hi sarah,
thanks for that post, it made me feel much better about not only my weight gain but my complete lack of interest in the opposition & my debts. I am so with you on playing with a new bag, that would keep me happy for hours, trying out how everything fits in & organising all the kit we have to carry about  . I think I need a new one now, just thinking about it makes me shiver with excitement
.
Although the car buying is apain, especially when doing it properly rather than the ' oh that's a pretty one I'll take it' method; I just cant wait to get onto quidco & searching for insurance. I am definitely honing my haggling skills too, although dad usually manages to upstage me  .
I'm wondering whether there could be a spending exmeption type thingy for buying fab/pretty stuff through quidco ? I'm due to have my eyes tested on friday & must remember to ask the optician to test my pupillary distance so I can then order new glasses through quidco too. (will get usual contacts through optician as I get £70 off every 2 years).
I've noticed that the cannier I get about money now, the dumber I realise I was previously.
Back later....

Isn't it funny, every time I need to buy something I immediately think "Ooh, I wonder how much I can save through quidco," and then look for a code on the discount board. Have saved so much this year. Not as much as if I hadn't bought anything:rolleyes: but with some essential things eg car insurance I have saved quite a bit. Am jealous that you will get to do it again:D How sad, I am looking forward to getting my own house so I can get cashback for house insurance:D . There should definitely be an exemption for fabby things, 5-10% cashback just isn't enough. 80-90% sounds more like it.
Have been playing with my new bag all day and trying out things in the different pockets.:D I think you should make sure you haggle the car price down low enough that there is enough left for a bag. Much more fun than stressing about a man. I am glad I'm not the only one with a complete lack of interest. I think I have felt like this for a while, apart from a few wobbles, because I have always seen marriage/relationships/children as a definition of some sort of success, if that doesn't sound too odd. I'm sure I will have my old panic attacks now and again (weekly) about leaving it too late, but I think I will move the goal posts to 40, as I really can't be bothered to do anything about it at the moment, so am giving myself a bit of space. I think I have totally forgotten how to find anyone attractive or interesting, and can't muster up the energy to try, or care, even. *declares exemption now for any professors who own a rambling Victorian mansion*
Weight and debts first, because they are most important and need my full attention, can think about the rest later. Am planning the layout of my new house now instead. The prices only need to fall by another 90% and I can get one.:D
*sips wine and soda and thinks of new ways to rearrange things in bag*

Cornishfens,
What can i say ... :T:rotfl: thank you, that really made me laugh.
Ossireo - good to hear from you & very well done on the weight loss :A You're really putting us to shame. I also ponder on my previous treat filled life with nostalgia... then i remember that I'm still paying for all those treats & still have another 2 years of paying for them too  .
Hey ho, on with the journey ...

I know exactly what you mean, hate having to budget haircuts, shoes etc out of my current account when I just used to hand over the credit card. Can't believe I used to think of it as "free" money. :eek:Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -

Hi all
Good to hear from everybody, congrats RMR on the run and glad to have found others who love bag pockets... I have got a Trolley Dolly on my Christmas wish list as I am an incurable hippy as well as a bag / luggage fan, they even have a website video so you can watch what goes in what pockets...I've noticed that the cannier I get about money now, the dumber I realise I was previously
Sounds like last Friday was pretty rubbish all round then, I was also in once I finally got home from college freezing cold and v grumpy. Though did get out on the Saturday for a friend's hen night... not sure how I was the one who ended up on the "performer's" lap in the group photo!
Have been in GRRRR mode ever since though as my flatmate has announced he's moving out (unavoidable situation for him, but really messes up my plans). Am hoping for grace period from landlord before having to find someone else, as I really don't want to share with someone I don't get on with... but it will still mean double bills even then. And am so cross with myself because if I wasn't paying debts then I could afford to rent the place by myself  . Must try to look on bright side that know better now and may find fabulous flatmate. (The only person I know who might be looking is someone I really fancy and I'm not sure it would be a good move... anybody got any thoughts on that one?)
I think we should all plan fabulous Friday nights now to look forward to, either arranging to go out or staying in doing something we love (more wine, raid Muji for little things to go in bag pockets...)
