  • Hi SarahB

Might well be worth trying a library in a "well-read" area or a uni town, I used to ignore the one where I lived in London but my local one here is fab (in park, great selection, even includes proper eccentric locals who explain their pet subject to the poor librarian "what do you mean you don't have a copy of Life Among the Outer Mongolian Fungi?" ). Unfortunately the good looking intellectuals are probably nodding wisely in their local pub or department library so the evening class thing is a good idea. (I've just joined a class at the continuing education dept of my local uni and it's great, lots of discussion and everyone is really nice and a real mix of people, not at all the scary postgrads that they looked like when I first looked through the door LOL.)

my local library will probably be dire, think I should go for a wonder round Leeds should be plenty of eye candy there.

Bowski thats a great price for a christmas pressie, you should start a thread to see if there's anyone can beat it, we all might get some ideas before the shops sell out.

    Hello everyone!!

Yeah thats a great idea eco, will get onto that once i've finished on here...thanks :)

Well I'm having a great day so far and it's only dinner time..woohoo!!!
I've ordered DD's wii from HMV (through quidco) so thats xmas main present sorted!! I had £100 saved in my internet saver for it so it's only (?) cost me £80 out of my normal money. So that was this morning before I left the house. Then I went to the gym, I worked the hardest I've worked, really pushed myself and beat all my targets. I'm enjoying it so much! It's only a small gym and as of yet not seen any treats in there, but I don't mind to be honest coz I think I'd die if a fit guy walked in while I was sweating it out on the stepper, all my wobbly bits wobbling all over the place :o
Then.... I knew I had a gift voucher for Ticketmaster somewhere that needed using coz they only last 12 months and I can not for the life of me remember when I received it so I was hunting for that and cannot believe what I came across.... on my pinboard in the kitchen I found £6 woolies vouchers and a £10 asda gift card :) and then under the stairs I found my ticketmaster giftcard, another asda giftcard and a woolies giftcard :T I don't know how much is on the asda/woolies giftcards but I'll take them with me next time I go and find out. I'm kinda guessin that as they've been kept that theres something on them, but don't wanna get my hopes up coz I know the chances are I kept them with the greatest of intentions of topping them up throughout the year haha! I also found a post office saving stamps card with £10 on (which i'm a bit gutted about coz I thought there was £20 on it haha!) and that will come in handy coz my tax is due at the end of the month and even though it's not my car i'm gonna offer to pay for 6 months tax.

So... I've used my ticketmaster giftcard and booked for me and DD to go see scouting for girls in December!! If they arrive before her b'day it can be a b'day present to go with the killers ticket but if not it can just be a treat for us at the time...god I can't wait. I've seen them before and they were fantastic but DD hasn't seen them yet and really wanted to go with me lastime but couldnt because no under 14's were allowed in the venue :(

So all in all a really good day for me. I've had a fantastic weekend too, now I'm gonna sound really sad but I've spent the weekend in tidying up and then relaxing, reading my book in a nice tidy house and I made a lovely roast yesterday. Thats what makes me happy lol I love the bad weather, it's a great excuse to get in ya p.j's early and stay in all day!

Sarahb , well done on closing ya creditcard, reading that made me realise I have one to close too so going to do it this savo!

Yargo.... half an hour on the x trainer, I'm almost dying just thinking about it, I can just manage 12 mins and thats not on the highest of levels lol Well done, hope the results show this week :)

Hope everyone is ok and looking forward to weigh in this week :)

    hi everyone,

hope your wekk ends were fun, I had zero energy for some reason so did as little as possible, think I'm getting ready to hibernate ;) .

Sarah - I'm on the same mission as you ; !!!!!! men & lets get on with weight loss & money gain, agree that eco's mantra should be mandatory :D

Have finished work already today  & that's never happened on a monday before. A bit scary & not good for the debt busting plan especially as I only have £ 2.11p left out of my 'allowance' until friday :(. I'm wondering whether the weight loss wil be as dramatic

Good news on your lucky finds Bowski, how very satisfying :)

Will catch up on stuff & prob be back later...

Thanks Rosa,I like the sound of the continuing education class! Is it bad that the bit that mostly interests me is the thought of the intellectual men, rather than the actual class? Would like to do it for the social aspect as well, really need to be doing something and getting out more, and I do enjoy studying, but I am also rather partial to very clever men. :D It's the top thing on my list. I want to work in a department library! All those books and professors! *swoons* So, plan for new year, weight and money sorted, then university for socializing, CV improving and genius bagging. *pours wine and plans outfit*

So I think evening classes may be the way to go, rather than the library, although now I have almost got over the shock of my local hovel, I may go to have a look at the ones in town. Just hope evening classes won't be full of twentysomethings, I don't want to be the oldest one there. Hate doing new things as get over anxious, but must bite the bullet, don't want to regret not doing it later. Hmmm. Shall investigate further at the weekend to see if they are advertising courses for next year. Will have to consider the fee as an investment.

Lula, glad to have you on the mission, am not going to even attempt the above until I can fit in my clothes and log on to internet banking without shuddering.

Michelle have added you, assumed you meant a pound and a quarter, not a quarter of total, let me know if I am wrong and I will amend it.

Bowski, well done on all those bargains (:rotfl: love the bit about DD's dad's present) and finding all those cards/vouchers, I only ever seem to find pennies:mad:

Yargo am going to put you on ignore, you are making me ashamed with all your exercising:D

    Hi Sarah,

I wouldn't worry about the age thing. I take an evening class most years & us thirtysomethings tend to be somewhere in the middle of the age range.

    hi Sarah,
I wasn't planning on taking my laptop, I wouldn't be able to prise my nephew off it, but I know I'll get withdrawl symptoms if I can't get on the internet, I can't live without it.
