Right. I can still lose a pound by Sunday, and to be honest, I havent eaten loads, but what I have eaten is rubbish. I am going to report here in the morning, will motivate me how to do it.[/quote]

Well missy, it's morning so where's your report ? ;)

I totally sympathise with you & I think if there's not such a huge amount to lose then it's almost tougher. Meal planning would work if you are an organised person who will stick to the plan.

There is a scary thread about weight loss on the old style board but it probably involves lots of huge batch cooking which isnt actually that useful if there's only 1 or 2 of you in the home. I'm going to really try & combine my weight loss with cutting down my grocery shopping. I end up eating bread/toast & biscuits because we're running out of fruit & I dont want to deprive DD of the healthy stuff  so I think I'm just going to buy more fruit & maybe try getting a pack of 5 or 6 choccie biscuits for her rather than a packet of normal biscuits whre I can easily sneak at least 5 without them being missed.

Quite simply : if it's not in the house I wont eat  .

Lets have a renewed effort as from NOW :)

    Evening everyone,

Hmm as far as the diet is concerned all I can say is oink oink oink, think I must be on the pig diet - see it eat it :o :
1 slice wholemeal toast + marmite for breakfast,
1 bowl fruit n fibre for 2nd breakfast
1 peanut butter(wholemeal) sarnie for lunch
1 slice peanut butter on toast for 'tea'
1 bowl cheerios for 2nd tea
1 bowl pasta + tomato & cheese sauce for supper
    1tiny bowl butterscotch ice cream

OMG I am a PEEEG

What kind of sparrow are you trying to feed? seriously tho I would fail to lose weight, eating so little I'd be cheating all the time, I see dieting like trying to give up smoking you have to keep your hands occupied, and yourself busy so you stop thinking about food as much, or maybe eat pasta for tea and cheerios for supper that way the stodge isn't sat in your stomach while your asleep, it will have had a few hours to start digesting, and I admire anyone who can stick to a diet my sisters do and I know how difficult they find it at times, I consider myself lucky cos I'm lactose intollerent and I'm allergic to chocolate, so a lot of treats make me so ill that to be honest I've learnt to ignore temptation it isn't worth it.
  • Living alone is better for my diet, I am rather fussy and do eat pretty well with the exception of my Green & Blacks intake and the occasional recourse to Frazzles/ Ikea almond cake. When my flatmate is around he acts horrified at all the veg and force-feeds me chips! :D The bit I need to fix is the not getting any exercise - but have just signed up to a pledge to walk to/ from work twice a week so hopefully I will be getting nagging emails from them.

I keep meaning to do meal planning but resent being told what to do, even by myself earlier in the week :rotfl: so usually end up changing the plan completely and it doesn't quite work like that!

  • small update from me.

I had one date and have now found a lovely new friend (no spark but really nice chap, determined to find a friend who will suit him as he's lovely!!!)

I am date number 3 tonight with another chap:rolleyes: , just hoping I don't manage to sabotage it/scare him off in my usual manner!!! Question when do you go from single to not?

Good luck to all of you who are on diets, I went to the dentist on Tuesday and woke up yesterday and couldn't eat as my mouth decided it wouldn't open properly so had to forgo bacon butties and a bbq at a client event as I couldn't fit any food in the small gap or chew  (great for the waistline!)

    Hi eco,

sympathy on the intolerance - my niece has coeliacs & I know how tricky it can be trying to eat all the right food. Cant think of a worse intolerance than chocolate hmmm maybe wine ?

My list may not have sounded much but when I say 'bowl' it's actually more like a serving bowl / fruit bowl size :o & I'm not mean with the spreading on my bread ;)

I am pretty healthy usually, I just want to lose the stone I gained after quitting smoking - my hands were busy shoving food in my mouth, no room for fags as well

I'm off to food shop later, and I you've all influenced me to think about what I buy a bit more. I find things sort of creeping up on me- for instance I like ice cream but don't usually buy it but recently I have and now I have 4 empty tubs:o ! How did they get there??

I'm not obsessive about my figure but I do admit that some things in my wardrobe don't fit too well (putting it mildly!) so if I lost a bit of weight then it would be money saving too!

Dating; I have given up on. I don't mean that in a negative way- what I mean is I've given up on letting finding 'lurve' rule my life. I realised that I was in some sort of holding pattern waiting for life to start and putting too much pressure on myself. I now see that I've got to enjoy myself and be happy NOW and not wait and whatever else happens is a bonus. I hope that you don't see this as a negative- it's lovely for those of you who can go out dating and I do miss it occasionally. It's just what suits me at the moment. I suspect that I'm a little bit older than most here <coughs 40 something coughs>;) and opportunities do lesson as you get older maybe that's got something to do with it. It's not as though I look like an auld biddy just yet though and I do brush up well :p , so who knows?!

@SarahB - I am working on a GL diet atm. Trying to have 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Typical day 'should be' things like this ...

Breakfast - Porridge with dried apricots, blueberries, firm banana
Lunch - CousCous with baked veg (like a salad thing) or Omlette or Low Sugar Beans on toast
Snack - 2 Nairns Oat Biscuits
Dinner - Speedy Chicken Curry with salad/3 grain rice
Snack - handful of nuts (almonds/brazil/macadamia etc)

They recommend that you try to not eat big meals and you are looking to not have sugar highs & lows. Nigel Denbys books are a big help as thats what I try and follow :)

This is a HUGELY difficult question and there seems to be no guidelines, I suppose a lot depends on progression and if you both feel its going somewhere etc its all so confusing

Hmm, might look into this, your diet sounds a lot more tasty than mine! I love bananas and beans on toast, sadly they are banned on mine. Thanks for the tip, will look for the books.
