Single and in debt.

  • Wow, there were times when I could have done with a singles support thread while I was in debt.

Although the big advantage I found was that when the opportunities to do extra work & make some extra money I could just make the decision without having to worry about if a girlfriend had planed a surprise for me.

I've been out of debt for 18 months now but I haven't even looked at meeting anyone. I think past experiences have just left me too jaded.

Well done on becoming debt free..I can't wait until I can say the same myself!!

Being hurt certainly changes future relationships as I've just found out! But when the right one comes along it just feels right. (or so i'm told!)

Personally I don't believe in being in love or the 'right one'.

  • Sarahb, the 1-10 list you made, that was exactly what I did for years and years and years. I think you just eventually get to a point where ya think 'right this is it, i'm doing it this time' Which to be honest I've thought plenty of times before when dieting but I know this time it's gonna happen. I guess its a bit like our lightbulb moments?? I don't know about you lot but I had months and months of thinking 'right i'm gonna get out of debt' but then you eventually have the one time when it actually begins to happen and you know its gonna carry on.

This is so true, it's exactly like a lightbulb moment! When you know that you have been saying it and saying it, but this time it is going to happen because you know you are not going back there. I am going to get slim and stay slim. I think this thread is good for me, knowing I will have to report back does help. If I can lose 20lb by Christmas, that will be fantastic.

I just want to fit in my clothes! I have lots of lovely things I bought pre lightbulb, which did just about fit, but don't fit nicely, at least losing weight will mean I don't have to buy lots of things to fit into. Some things are 2-3 years old and never been worn, I just get them out and admire them! I want to start wearing them. I want my flat stomach back!

    Evening boy & girls,

Well dont to those who have achieved weight loss & healthy eating. I can now report that the butterscotch ice cream has all gone & I will not be replacing it. Damn waitrose & their fab 2 for £3.50 on the most gorgeous, tempting & delicious ice cream. Step away now ladies ;) .

I'm putting DD & I on a healthy diet as from tomorrow when I do the shopping. I have a voucher for 60p off tracker bars at tesco & I rhink they come in boxes of 6 so that will be DDs treats for the week. She also asked me to get some crisps so will try to find cheap bags of 6 or 7. Not a very mse way to shop but I'm doing so badly on debt reduction perhaps I should just concentrate on weight reduction & the debt might follow...

I've been thinking a lot about being single & have discovered that if you're going to wake up at 5 in the morning with a new money saving idea & then get out all spending diaries, forecasts & receipts & spread them all over the bedroom along with a cup of tea, then it's probably best to be single so that no one else can witness this bizarre behaviour :o .

I've just registered to do an OU spanish course so that should keep me busy for 8 hours a week for the next 9 months & then I can shoot over to spain & start some serious flirtating with a few senors :D

I really do hope there is a "right one," but I have started to wonder if this is true. Maybe we're not all meant to meet someone. And since this thread began, I have started to realise that much as I want a relationship, there are other things that I need to sort out first, I can't keep seeing a man as the answer. I need to feel better about myself first. And that involves sorting out my weight and keeping on top of the debts for a start. Doesn't stop me hoping Mr Right is out there somewhere, ready to appear at the best possible time!

Couldnt have put it better, I have a whole wardrobe full of lovely things to wear when I get my flat tummy back too; that's why I dont ebay stuff even if it doesnt fit at the moment .
  • I really want to read thru this whole thread but it would take me days and days and days. Which page is the list of dieters on? I just wanted to have a look at it but it far too late to be doing silly things like that!!

    I'm off to bed now, I'm shattered...n'nite

I've just registered with the OU as well but for the Personal Finance course. (Partially paid for with Clubcard Vouchers of course :D)

I'm overdue for studying something other than what my boss wants me to.

Fab idea! I was considering doing a language night class or OU course when debts are a bit better, I thought it would be a good thing to put on my c.v. I now realise I could put any language skills to a far far better use! I was thinking maybe French or German. Have just had a sudden change of heart in the light of this new information- Spanish or Italian.

    Hello mr black cat,

now I feel really stupid cos of course I should be doing something useful like finance ( see sig below  ) rather than something that means I can flirt in another langauge. I am so shallow :o

But... I have already done a social science course & intend on completing a degree in international studies one day. It will be finance linked though as I wont be spending for 8 hours a week ;) .

How long does your course last for ?
