    Hi all,

What would you do in the instance where a bank is ignoring your requests to correct your file, but this is compounded by the fact you don't have the account number, and the Official Receiver is unable to provide it?

The bank say they cannot find it in their system or security check me as "the account is now closed".

Despite this, their Credit Card arm were able to resolve the Mastercard, it's the current account I can't get resolved.

    Please help??? :(

    Hi,

i went bankrupt in june 2008, and discharged in feb 2009.

My halifax current account was inclluded within this bankruptcy and halifax have marked the account as settled in oct 2008 with late payment markers upto this date.

can i ask them to remove these late payment markers from my credit file? the account has not defaulted.. surely though there should be no late payment markers post BR date. I am trying to maximise the length of time i have had a clean history to hopefully open a new bank account by june this year.

    any help greatly appreciated

    Cheers

And this one is the pig of them all!!

The creditor does NOT have to default the account, but are obliged to show it as settled or satisfied prior to the discharge date.

So technically what is on your CRF is 100% correct and will result in the account drooping off 6 years from the settled date rather than the default date..

Unfortunate but perfectly legal and above board!!

Thanks, im going to give it a go anyway and write to them again with the letter fermi has posted above. How do you think i could word it other than asking them to amend the default entry and instead to remove the late payment markers?

    Cheers

Thought I would have another look at my reports (only Experian so far) and see what they look like. About a year ago I had a first attempt at getting them all accurate. Surprise surprise, despite being told things had been changed...there are still problems! I was declared BR on 21st Jan 2008 and yet have one record stating:

Company name: CAPQUEST (FORMERLY FTC) Who's this? Account type: Bank Started: 14/01/1997 Default Balance: £463 Current Balance: £449

Defaulted On: 11/05/2008 File Updated for the Period to: 19/12/2010 Status history:
    [] brackets indicate most recent months status [ hist_8.jpg ] What's this?

I am not even sure who this company are! Reckon it must be my old Abbey National bank account which had an overdraft at the time of BR. Guess I will have to contact this comapany to get the Default date put back...don't want to add a further 4 months to the 6 years!!!

Haven't checked any other companies yet...so will do so tomorrow.

A few questions about credit reports if anyone has any thoughts:

    1) How many searches does you harm!!! I currently have three on there (one from car insurance, one from a mobile phone company and one from a utility company). The insurance one went through OK but I was rejected by the phone and utility. So still searching for new providers and not sure how many times to 'risk' having new companies do searches as the will appear on my file. Also - how long do details of a search stay on file?

    2) A few companies on my report have the account down as satisfactory but settled. The settled date is then not the same as my BR date. Does this matter? here is an example:
Company name: NATIONWIDE BUILDING SOCIETY Who's this? Account type: Current Account Started: 30/07/2002 Overdraft Balance: Settled

Settled On: 23/12/2009 File Updated for the Period to: 17/01/2010 Status history:
[] brackets indicate most recent months status [ hist_0.jpg ] hist_0.jpghist_0.jpghist_0.jpghist_0.jpghist_0.jpghist_0.jpghist_0.jpghist_0.jpghist_0.jpghist_0.jpghist_0.jpg What's this? Summary of payment history: In the last 36 months of account activity, the number of status 1-2 is 0 and the number of status 3+ is 0 Note: Settled accounts are kept on file for six years from the settlement date. The status history in respect of a settled account relates to the period of time prior to the date of settlement.

    Cheers.
  • Hi! I am due to be dicharged from BR next month and have been looking on this site for ways to start repairing my credit rating. I currently have a contract mobile (had it for 7 years) which i have never defaulted on. If I keep this contract and paying the bill every month will this count as a good mark on my credit score? Also is it worth getting a credit report next month or should I wait a few months before looking at whats accurate and needs fixed? Thanks in advance!:)
  • I'm at my wits end with Cahoot/Santander after going round in circles between their respective customer service and complaints department and the Santander collections & recoveries department. I have just passed the 6 year anniversary of filing for bankruptcy but my delight at having the majority of defaulted accounts drop off my credit files was overshadowed by just one account at Cahoot!! This is the shot version of the story:

Cahoot Current Account defaulted 09/04 and initially listed as such with both Experian and Equifax. The account didn’t show as settled with Equifax so I contacted Cahoot in late 2010 to ask for this to be amended. The default date with Experian was incorrectly changed to 12/05 and the ‘date last delinquent’ incorrectly changed with Equifax from 09/04 to 09/10.

My file needs to be updated to show a default date of 09/04 and be marked as satisfied which will cause it to drop off my credit files... yey!! I've sent numerous letter and faxes and have had alost daily phone calls over the last few weeks trying to get this sorted out...

Finally today I was told to write to:

    Credit Data Quality Unit
    Santander House
    201 Grafton Gate East
    Milton Keynes
    MK9 1AN

This isn't the address that is listed as the data controller on this website and I was wondering if anyone had successful outcome after writing to this department of if I should just write to the data controller as well?

    Thanks
  • I'm a third of the way through my bankruptcy year. Should I be checking my credit file for cleanup before I am discharged? It seems that many people on this forum are having problems after the discharge date. Thanks for your opinions.
