Hi Hun, I'm sorry it is so bad for you at the mo.

If you've not been on these meds for very long then you should know that tricyclic anti-d's take a while to work - well that's what I was told when I was on them.

But do go back to your GP

And be very very kind and gentle to yourself.

Thanks everyone. I have decided to listen to the advice you have all been giving and I will try to get an appointment with my GP tomorrow. It's a local holiday here though so I'm not sure if the surgery will be open but I'll give it a shot. Only problem is that I might have to wait a couple of weeks to see one of the really good and understanding docs.

I have just come back from my step-dad's house. I don't want people knowing what a mess I am inside but I am finding it really difficult to put a brave face on it. SD wasn't all that keen on J anyway so that makes it tougher again. I think he's glad he's gone tbh.

SD also poured cold water over the idea of a dog. Too bad, I'm going ahead with it. I think she'll do me good. I'll have to call the dog home this week to find out how she's doing and when I can collect her.

Mupeteer - when I had an awful time at work, with my boss bullying me and my world falling apart, other than the amazing DFW'ers, the main way I got through the breakdown and depression was my beautiful springer Charlie.

Every day, he was there for me, big doggy smile on his face and loads of cuddles. He didn't mind how much I cried inprivate with him, he just gave me bigger hugs. (almost in tears now, thinking back - it's still raw in some ways 18 months on)

He really got me through a lot and I think a dog, as long as you've (obviously) thought through the practicalities of one, will be such a help.
