Thanks guys, it's so difficult because I l know he's a !!!! but it still gets to me. And I think you could be right about the attention thing. He's never happy unless he's the funny one or unless he has the last word.
Dads and daughters. It's always a tricky one. Maybe you're a bit more complicated than your sister (in a good way hun) and your dad doesn't know how to deal with it. Yes, the fact he reacts that way to you is probably due to his weakness, but the way you take it is due to yours, which is that you see yourself as the problem. You did the right thing. Don't let it spoil a good day, it's nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I've been brave today - I bit the bullet, decided to act like a grown up and went to visit my dad (took my sister and her kids for moral support though). I decided it was probably best to act like nothing had happened. He was a bit funny to begin with but got over it. I'm sure ignoring the problems we have isn't healthy but right now I couldn't cope with any more hassle.
I've been sooooooo busy today. My sister was round and we have stripped all the wallpaper off the kitchen walls, removed the old tiles and started to fill some of the larger holes so I'm really quite please with what we got done. then, after dinner, when they had gone home I cut the grass. I'm shattered now but it's that good kinda shattered where you can see what did it.

hi mupeteer
I am sorry to hear that you are sharing the dark black hole with me. But I can tell you that up a bit higher there are some steps carved into the wall that form a staircase back to 'normality' . The meds will get you up far enough to get on the staircase and help you get back to where you want to be.
I am stuck about 3 quarters of the way up at the moment, but I will get the rest of the way once we are settled.
Ref your dad, if these attacks are unprovoked and happen every time you got, why on earth are you going? You don't need the added pain, nor the extra blows to your self worth.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

After a bit of a late night I've only recently woken up.
I've followed some advice from Vlad and have made myself a list on Excel, showing all the things I need to get done. They are not in any kind of order but they're all there. When I complete something I get to turn it green. To make it look like I'm doing alright I cheated and put the stuff on that we got done yesterday so there are a few green bits already.:D

Argh! It's lovely here now and really warm (I've even broken out my Daisy Duke shorts  ) and I'd love to be outside but I've got so much to do in the house. I've already hung the washing out and washed the front door but, other than the gardening, everything else that needs to be done is in here. I'm in a quandary now - do I go and sit on my bum in the sun with a book or do I do what I should be doing and get on with stuff?
