I've ordered 256MB of memory, so when I install this I would have 512MB right?

Right, so what tool's would I need to install this?

Does the R50 have more than one socket for memory? I'm sure my T21 only has one.... I assume the R50 is the same......

Two slots, one with easy access from the back so it is a user serviceable part ie won't void your warranty

I've installed an extra 256MB memory, what difference willl this make to the laptop?! How do I check if its installed?

Go to My Computer. Click on 'view system information' and the amount of memory will show towards the bottom of that screen

it should make the laptop run faster, u can check if the memory is installed by right clicking 'my computer' then it should display it there.
