  • has anyone or everyone used it for the wireless connection yet, is it any good, plus is the battery life short or quite long
  • I've bought one, and absolutely love it. I upgraded to 512mb, no problems as of yet. It's easy peasy to install the extra memory and it does not void your warranty, I could not believe how easy it was.

Theres a similar laptop called Acer, also priced at 399 at comet. Similiar spec however no built in wireless, and it only has 3g card which is no good as gprs connection is slow and expensive. Acer is not very good brand. The Acer only has 1.5hours battery life. Acer do not have great support

IBM is a very reputable brand and usually are reliable, however I do appreciate their company has been bought by lenovo but they have reassured the press that they are not changing anything in the IBM company as of yet. The IBM has upto 3 hours battery life and it is shown in your taskbar, or do like me and leave it plugged into the mains as I dont move around much.

IBM have been around for decades providing business users with upto date systems, if you think about it business users constantly using the systems to the max and they still in full working order. They can take a real bashing from what I gather, IBM beats Acer any day

I accept its not the best looking laptop in the world, and it doesnt have the touch pad mouse but then again weigh up the argument against the spec and its great value for money
  • cool, sounds good, i saw that acer laptop as well, but didnt think much of it either
  • Just to echo previous posts this is a fantastic laptop with good wireless reception and a long battery life - mine has achieved the 3 hours no problem.

I got one for my son's (25) birthday and he's really delighted with it. Says the wireless network connected first time. It's obviously not the smallest laptop around (I've got a Sharp Actius MM and the IBM weighs nearly three times as much!).
