Guys,
Bought one today, they have new stock in (after the original 20 that were pre ordered were sold).
They do not do student discount (I asked).
However if you don't like it you can return it within 14 days for a full refund.
They may well be in other stores too - go on give them a ring!!
Hope this helps.

is the wrong answer if its not as described he can return it in a reasonable time. you are not the arbiter of whether a month or three months or whatever period is reasonable. a judge is and needs to look at all the circumstances of the matter which you havent and i havent so dont mislead people that its just a month and thats it - because that is nonsense on your part.
someone may not find it is not as described after much longer a period..0 -
Thanks for all the posts.
The laptop was bought on 1-10.
And Staples only point out the error on 28-10.
And I didn't noticed that until I went in Staples last week.
As the laptop is with my son at University.
I email him and he did feel a bit disappointed and also mentioned to me that in the manaul features on page 4 ,it should have a video-out (S-video) standrad on all R50 model.
This laptop didn't has a video-out connector.
Some people will said £399.00 is very cheap price for a laptop.
The price of the laptops are getting cheaper and the spec are better every month.
But I think the main point is it did not as described .
Thanks0 -

It is my opinion - every one of my posts is my opinion. The clue in this case is in the wording "I think you have no chance of a refund."
Your post is your opinion.
My post is not wrong, although you are certainly welcome to a differing opinion.
In my opinion (for the sake of clarity! ), the goods were not mis-described.
There was a printing error on the flyer (where I copied the original information from). There is a disclaimer on the flyer (which I did not include in my original post).
The goods are not mis-described either in store, nor on the packaging. When you buy in store, you have the opportunity to inspect the product (it's on display!)
Of course, you are welcome to take the case to court and the judge will decide - but if someone wanted to do that would they really bother asking on here? Surely the answer to every question regarding your legal rights is to go to court and let the judge decide, as the judge has the final decision. However, the judge will decide based on the law.
You are correct, the law requires it to be returned in a reasonable time - that is because it would be unreasonable to expect someone to return the goods before they could identify they were mis-described. However how long does it take to establish that the disk drive is not dual layer? If everyone who had questions like this went to court, our legal system would soon come to a standstill."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I still believe even with this proof, the question will arise over how long it took you to identify that the disk dive was not dual layer - you appear to suggest this was only apparent after you became aware that Staples had corrected their description. Anyone who had purchased this product could identify very quickly on opening the packaging that the disk drive was not dual layer.
Furthermore, you suggest that Staples only corrected the error on 28 October 2005. Why? Yes this is the the date I first posted the correction, but that is not necessarily the date that Staples first published the correction. What proof have you that this is the first date that Staples corrected the information contained in the flyer - according to you you didn't notice the correction before last week.
If you had bought the laptop as a present and had stored it unopened - you may have had grounds for returning it as it could be construed that you had done so within a reasonable time of discovering the mis-description. However, it appears you have used the laptop for almost 7 weeks and now you are thinking of returning it. I doubt a judge will find that reasonable - I'm sure Staples won't.
I am sorry you are not completely happy with the product you purchased. Why not try selling it. You purchased it at a very competitive price and, with Christmas rapidly approaching, I am quite certain you could probably sell it on and recover your initial purchase price assuming it is still in as new condition."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Can I please say a big thank you to all the people posting on this thread.
I've just been to Staples at Chadwell heath and cancelled my order and rushed down to Staples at basildon who have several of this thinkpads in stock.
My son is now the proud possessor on a wi fi laptop at a very competitive price. He also bought himself a great laptop bag reduced at Staples as well for £17.99 which came with a free notebook optical mouse.
I would never have known about this laptop unless this thread had been here.
Thank you everyone.
