IBM Thinkpad R50e laptop - £399

My Wife needs a laptop for University. I can't imagine getting one for much less than the £399 region.

Do Staples give any student dicount?

I've had mine on order and paid in full at the Chadwell Heath store now for two weeks. I phoned yesterday and they are telling me that no one has any stock so I'm getting a bit cross at them now.

Hummm......sign was hand written and actually above one which was on display....I was in the same store a week ago and they didn't have them then.

Is there a possibility they can do a store transfer?

UPDATE ****Just rang the Cardiff bay store 5 left in stock

I've just spoken to Chadwell heath again and they are not very helpful. They can't transfer in from another branch as they all work independently (supposedly). HOwever they are quite sure my one will be available on Tuesday, so fingers crossed.

I bought one just over a month ago for my son.

And he found out the CD/DVD writer is NOT dual layer but single layer.

As the product description as originally detailed dual layer on the flyer.

I wonder can I take the laptop back for a refund as they made an error?

When you bought the product, you should have seen the errata displayed beside the product as previously mentioned in this thread.

Also the product description in-store does not state dual layer.

As you have now had the product over a month, I think you have no chance of a refund. If the product was not as described you would need to have returned it immediately.
