I happened to be watching Anthea Turner the other day and she reckons to pour tea leaves into a clean sock....sprinkle a few drops of any essential oil you like into it and tie the top of the sock....pop it into your trainers/shoes! Apparently the tea leaves absorb the smell...or something.

My 16 year old daughters shoes and feet always stink throught he summer. She gets through so many pairs as we just end up chucking them when they get too disgusting and I've tried lots of things but nothings ever worked. Anyway shes just come in from college and taken her new shoes off, they are just starting to pong a bit so I've just wiped the insides with some tea tree oil and it's worked! Hopefully this pair will now live longer than they usually do.

In America they use tinned/bottled tomatoes or, in a pinch, ketchup to get rid of the pong of skunk spray . It contains something that deodorises extreme smells and is a well-known tip.
I use cheap tinned tomatoes on the dog when she's rolled in something disgusting. She's never impressed, but it works.

I can't stand the smell of Febreze...it lingers forever and it makes me feel very sick _pale_ !!

    Hi everyone

My boyfriend has horribly smelly shoes - they are still in good, serviceable condition, but they stink! How can I stop them smelling? I'd really like to find an OS solution to this, as the shoes are too expensive to chuck, but good lord they smell! His feet don't smell though .

I'd stick 'em in the machine. Does he wear cotton socks with shoes? No socks means shoes absorb all the moisture.

We've tried insoles, but weren't impressed. My mum uses scholl foot odour spray, but it's awfully expensive.

I read somewhere that we should all have 2 pairs of shoes, and shoudl alternate each day togive shoes time to dry out thoroughly.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

You could fill them with cat litter overnight...and hope kitty does not need a pee or
put in some bicarb of soda place in the freezer in a sealed plastic bag overnight then remove shake out the bicrab and fresh smelling shoes.

The other way is to make up little barcarb balls with some essential oils bicrab of soda in a small circle of cloth, tie up the cloth to make a little ball and place in each shoe every night when he removes the shoes.

stuffing them with newspaper may help .
A little bag of charcoal would be good. You could make one for each shoe filled with charcoal for barbeques.A circle of cotton filled and tied at the top would do.
